agreed with the younger members being more likely to be on the forum. owners on this forum is probably just a small percentage of all E class owners... and specific demographic groups are more likely to gather at online communities.
and to bob2011, i personally dont judge regarding these things. whoever bought it does not affect your contributions to the forum.

I'm 47 with a 2013 E350 Sport Wagon on the way. I kept my previous German sedan for 13 years. Bought my first Benz, a 93 300 CE Cabriolet, 14 months ago. I'm smitten with this brand.

I would never fault someone for owning something. It's nice to see someone appreciate what they have, even if they didn't buy it themselves.
Also, I'm a little surprised by the younger age of some of the responses. I'm 37. I certainly did not have the cash for a E550 at 21. I was driving a 1980 Datsun 200sx. The hood release rotted away, so I put a couple of bolts through the hood into the frame. I kept a socket wrench in the glove compartment to open the hood. The ***** nearly killed me when a tie rod let go. ah....memories.

It was a great car. My dad bought it new in '79, my brother drove it for a few years, then I bought it from him for a few hundred dollars. If I knew as much about cars then as I do now, I would have "restored" it for use as a beater.
Problem around Chicagoland is the god damn salt. Not much you can do to keep your car from rotting away. You go to the southwest, and you see late model cars all the time that look practically new (from a body standpoint).

Well, I gave up on waiting for Bob's parents to adopt me, so I bought a Certified E350 Blutec yesterday. And Bob, tell your folks that although I'm disappointed I understand. Not too many couples are willing to adopt a 67 yr old.
