Unhappy Weird Sound Coming from ENgine :s

hey guys,

I need advice from the pros. My car recently started making some sort of sound. It is not major but I never heard it from any other mercedes e350 2010 so far. The mechanic told me it seems nothing serious and to just ignore it but how to ignore any weird sound coming from those cars. !!!! I cant really explain the sound so I posted a video on youtube so you can hear it pay close attention to a sort of light sound in the background. At first i thought it was the belt but turned out MB told me the belt was in good condition so what can it be.

Here is the link.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOCpC...ature=youtu.be

Thanks in advance

I Must say that I reviewed the video and its true that we dont hear it clearly and if you dont know what it is you probably will never hear it so I posted another video where you can definetly hear a sort of cranking sound. Pay close attention because this noise wasnt present when I purchased the car and its a light noise not overwhelming but still present.

This engine sounds perfectly normal to my ears. Not sure what you think you are hearing. I will have to agree with your MB Tech's initial assessment: All normal. I would expect the sounds to change slightly over time as the engine goes through break-in. I would either get on with life, or, trade this vehicle in for something that you really want. It seems you have already convinced yourself that something is terribly wrong with your engine. Just get rid of the car. Life is too short to drive a frustrating vehicle.

Maybe you're right but the reason I am being so picky is that in my head MB is a top notch, high standard vehicule and it isnt suppose to make any sort of noise like other cars. Also that I am selling it really soon so it has to sound perfect. I cant show up with this car having any sort of weird noise and try to sell it for high price, you understand. So I have to show some perfectionism

At first I thought my engine sounded weird. But I heard all the other Mercedes sound the same so I was over it. Important thing is it is very quiet from the inside.

The "sound" you are hearing is not likely to cause any devaluation of your vehicle. Just sell it. Being a gas engine, I am guessing you will likely not get much over the high 20's to low 30's to sell it outright. A co-worker just purchased a CPO 2011 E350 4Matic, 28K miles for $35k. There are many that somehow equate "top-shelf" with "perfection". I can assure you that the W212 you are going to sell has a superior build quality to just about anything in its class and the engine will long outlast your desire to keep it.

I read somewhere that noise is caused by the direct injection type motors. Mine had me worried too.
