Lease return with ripped seats

I am at the end of my lease I actually extended it a few months, I ended up getting a BMW and I am returning the Mercedes the car to my local MB dealer (I got my car out of state not at the local one) and the car is flawless and looks brand new inside and out except for a tear on the drivers seat. I am not even sure how it happened but I have a hunch it was a few months back when I had the car washed and the guy car who drove the car may have had something sharp in his back pocket.

Curious if MB will let something like this fly or will charge me for it?

See photo, thanks!

Diesel! Crazy seeing you 'round these parts!

I took my last E to a dealer to have it inspected before I did the Lease transfer, and the guy seemed to just gaze through it. To boot it was in an underground parking lot without bright sunlight. Honestly I would probably put some sharpie over it or something to make it easy for them to just gaze past it, but not sure if you're "like me" in that sense.

I think it should be fine, but it just depends on the guy looking at it and how thorough he might be.

fwiw, the dealer doesn't do the inspection. They contract that job out. Many dealers in SoCal use DataScan. The inspectors are human and it really comes down to the individual doing the inspection. And it's not required that it's done at the dealership; you can have it arranged to be done at your workplace or home.

Here are a few basic tips (and a good story about it all) http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/13/au...PECT.html?_r=0

Thanks I am going to try to shove electrical black tape in there as well as black marker to cover up the white, maybe glue in there too who knows. I am giving them a car that is so mint its crazy and only 35,000 miles, tires with less than 7,000 miles on them so they better not *****!

Lol K-A yeah had to come by one last time before I moved on for good.

Well I tried the market but couldn't get in there much, tried some crazy glue and made it slightly better. I am just going to wing it and see what happens, it is smaller than a credit card in length so hopefully it won't be an issue.

My advice is to leave it as is. If you try crazy glue and marker you are only going to make it worse and draw attention to it. Most likely the guy checking the car will give it the once over and not notice it. And if he does it's probably a nominal $100 charge or similar. A professional detailed can easily fix this. Be honest.

Enjoy the new BMW.

All went well the girl said they won't hit me for that and the rest of the car was flawless anyway. She was hot too damn, glad I got her card Though I will have to pay a $595 lease return, never had to do that before because I always get a new car before my lease is up and they deal with that but this was my 1st time letting a lease end like that.

MB-Tex is super easy to repair. I would just fess-up and pay for the repair. I had a similar tear in a Volvo (V-Tex). The dealership had a guy come in and fix it. Cost was about $70.
