2012 E350 4matic
My First MB

Greetings all, This past week I traded in my 2007 Audi S4 for a 2012 E350 4Matic Sport PII. It is my first mercedes, and after just a weekend I love it.

I have been a member of a few forums in the past but have never posted before, I am telling you the car drove me do it! I have spent all weekend looking around this board and it seems like an awesome community, a very refreshing thing to find.

I still need to figure out how to make a signature ect...

Tinting the windows to 35% on monday. Will post Pics after.

Best regards,

BT

Tinted to 35%, MB bent front plate frame, MB rear plate frame. Very happy with the outcome. Cannot believe how much I am enjoying this car.

Cheers on your new ride. I came off an Audi to my E350 sport wagon as well. I am getting tint on Thursday but I am going to go one level lighter than 35. My color is close to yours as well. Happy? I am, I really like having a star on my hoods and the ride is super in our crumbly road area..

Super happy with the 35%, the legal limit in IL, although its still fuzzy in cook county. I had 35% on my audi as well and always thought it was the perfect amount. My Escalade has 20% in the front to match the factory, I think it looks great but there is for sure a downside to tints that dark.

Depending on where you are in Chciago I Highly recommend Shaded Days in Lake Bluff, well worth the drive. They have done every car I have ever tinted (most of those listed below). The owner mark has had the shop for over 20 years ect.

Congrats on the car. I see that you are from Chicago. Where did you get your windows tinted? If you don't mind me asking, how much was it and how fast? Good quality tint? I'm thinking about getting one too.

Wink Lake Bluff

I had my Audi tinted by the Last Detail up that way. It turned out ok. This time around I am going to have it done by my dealership, MB of Hoffman Estates. It was part of the bargaining process when I ordered the car. I tint for interior and kid protection and not for the aesthetic bad boy dark. I will not be putting a front plate on the car so I don't want Barney to get too interested in me cuz of dark windows. I happily motored around for 11 years without a ticket on my last car, now that some of the the stop light cams are going away I think I'll be ok. Best thing about a graphite colored wagon, they pull over the sedans and coupes first.

Happy trails!
Bob

No problem at all. The place is called Shaded Days in Lake Bluff, IL. They have a solid Facebook page and their # is 847.816.8468. He had been recommended to me years ago by the Porsche dealer in highland park. It took me a week to get an appointment, but it only took a little over two hours for them to do the car. I think they are second to none in quality. They charge 275$ I spent and extra hundred for a tint thats 35 but blocks out more heat.

Lake Bluff in traffic is far from the city, but these guys are totally worth it. Real pros.

buffalo grove:)

I live not very far from you - buffalo grove/lincolshire area. There are a lot of cops out there, especially on lake cook rd and such. But I have this antiradar and for two years driving this car, I haven't been pulled over once.
I wanted to ask you about the front plates, so you just leave them like this? No plates in the front?

For sure the Wagon is more discrete, had no front plate on my audi in the city for a few years, after 1o tickets in 2 years I caved... and I almost never street park.

Congrats on your new car.

Other than the obvious size difference between the S4 and E350, can you provide a comparison on what you like about the MB.

Why did you pick the E350 over the A6?

Oh where to begin... I have much to say in this issue, I will give the great question a proper answer later tonight.

I had two choices, stick with the internet name "Big Time" or have the tatoo removed... I made my decision.
