E350 VS E550 PROS AND CONS
besides losing 2 miles per gallon, what are the pros and cons for the 3.5 vs 4.8 motors. i assume the only difference between the two are the motor options.
thanks again guys

Try driving one. IMHO it drives like a totally different car...you know that commercial "I shoulda had a V8?" they weren't talking about veggie juice.

How many miles do you drive in a year? What % is highway? What do you get now mpg wise? Is that computer calculated or by actual calculator? Is it 4matic? What size tires? I had a 2006 e350Rwd. I'd be happy to estimate for you.

A lot depends on how you drive it. The E550 is just giddy fast. So, if you like to get going quickly, I would expect 15 mpg around town in the E550. If you drive the same, then there will be less of a hit between the two, but, if you are going to drive them the same why get the bigger engine?
Differences
For the nearly 10K in MSRP difference it's not all engine. The 550 come with 4Matic (since 2012), and you get standard leather and heated seats. The 4Matic in any model variant has a mpg hit, but I would have not bought my 350 without it where I live. If 4Matic is not something you want or need, I understand, but 4Matic will help channel the massive amount of torque.
To me, it is mostly engine. Besides the power ouptut from the drive (just take the 550 in a good passing situation and you will find out in a hurry
). The V8 TT also has an engine/exhaust note which may be to your liking. No need to resort to "tricks" like what Lexus does with a sound generator in it's GS350
Oh and of course with the 550 comes that "550" badge on the back which lets others know you got some power under the hood.
Stock 350's would be wise not to try to race you. Please obey all traffic laws

Ha ha nice!
i guess thats what i needed to find out, im looking on getting a used 2010, so if i wanted hids and heated seats, i should look for p2 right?
If MPG question was posed twice, something tells me that price of admission difference ($10K new, less than that used) is too much to overcome. Why even get (maybe because it is significantly less expensive?) used W211 vs. similarly powered used W212 in the first place?

Turbo setups generally rely on exhaust noises.
.
I went back and forth with the 350 and 550 driving both over and over again before I decided on the 550. Power is effortless, ride is fantastic, and rivals s-class for comfort at half the price. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy.
Also, factor in the ease factor of just lowering and raising the car from the cabin.
With a new set of springs and shocks, it will probably run the same price but involves some tinkering.
