Power Folding Mirrors W212 E-class
Dear MBworld Members,
I would like to install the power folding mirrors on my E-class 2010 CDI (W212) purchased in Europe. Avoiding the expensive MB charges I will perform the installation my self.
I have read some threads for W204.
My questions are:
Which parts I will need:
- Door switch panel (Picture 1)
- 2 Power folding mirrors (Picture 2).
- and maybe 2 front door control modules (Picture 3)?
As far I think the procedure will be plug and play, I will remove the old parts and put the new parts? is it this correct ?
Do I need to do any wiring installation ?
any software update ?
I f any one did this before please give me a help.
Thanks

When I retroffited on a 2010 E-Coupe, only parts 1 and 2 were needed (and not full mirror housings, only the brackets). The door modules were not required.
Everything was plug and play (no re-wiring required). My mirrors worked without software by pressing the button, but programming them through the instrument cluster to work when locking/unlocking required authorization from Germany.

Does anyone know if these are the same parts used for the C Class? I would like to do this on my 2010 C-class but it only seems that E Class owners take the initiative to actually do this...

Hi CzchMex,
All the parts I listed are also compatible with the C classe, only the Power folding mirror are not (not sure).
Rivet and clips I ordred them from Mercedes retail.
The Mirror switch and Power folding mirror from ebay.
Good luck.
I'm also going to install rear view camera and I have the wiring for the C classe original from Mercedes if you are interested.

torjan, the C250 mirror cover removal instructions and the E350 mirror removal instructions are not all the same. I have a pair of 2011 E350 European folding mirrors and to get the cover off, you have to remove the mirror and then remove 2 screws, remove the bottom and then you can remove the top cover.
When researching this, I also found that my former 2010 car had the same door module part numbers as the modules I received from a 2011 car with folding mirrors. From those who have gone done this path before, they indicated that if you have the switch block module and the folding mirror frames, you can electrically fold the mirrors, using the fold switch button in the middle of the top of the switch block that has the folding mirror button. I am not sure that the door modules from a folding car are really required.
Removing the switch block, according to the remove/install instructions I download form MB's StartekInfo, there are two ways you can remove the switch block, one is by dropping the entire door panel, the other is by using special tool to pry the switch block out of the drivers side armrest.
The big hurdle is getting your datacard changed in Germany and then getting authorization from MB Germany to turn on the option for folding mirrors set for your car. I hope this helps.

Hi CzchMex, the parts are used, new are very expensive and I don't want to spend to much on this.
Hi Nuru, Thank you for the cover tip, actually I have tried to remove the cover but I was not able so I said that I will do that once I start the install, but thanks good you told me that there is some screws inside.
One question, from your reply and Camber53 I understand that only installing the switch and the folding mirror is not enough, I need to go to MB ?
Actually I need only to close the folding mirror by the switch and not the car key, does this need a program ? it will not work without software programming ?
Nuru could you please send me the remove/install instructions you download form MB's StartekInfo, I will be thank full.

Same here. No update?! I guess it's probably a no since OP never came back and said hey look, it works!.
Shame it isn't easier to do. When I did the retro fit on our 2009 w211 it really wasn't bad at all. Get the correct mirror motors, and cabin switch, then program in STAR and done. Everything works.

Are the part numbers different from the right side and left side side view mirrors ? I’ve been trying to look up the part number but all I can find is the right side and not the left

Hi Andy,
That's the only part number I could find on the mirrors I bought. The problem is that the part number change depending on the other options that the mirror has. Like mirror heating, blind spot detection. Try either to ask the seller or MB dealer.
I recently found a really nice video on youtube explaning to procedure and you can also check part numbers for door modules.
