whats the best way to debadge the model designaton?

I think this topic have been discuss before but I Can't find it. I'm thinking of de-badging the E350 and 4Matic on the trunk of my car. Have anyone ever done this before or know the best way to do it without damaging the paint?

thanks

your badges are probably still kind of 'soft' so it should not take much heat, they should
come off rather easily.....then try some goo gone, but be careful because goo gone can
f up the paint if you leave it on there....
also: respect for the debadge!

good luck with it

I replaced the badges on both of my E 550 (in Germany still called E 500). The S 211 "E 500" became "E 280". So I had to remove the "5" and "0" and to mount a "2" and "8".

As described before, I also used a hair dryer and dental floss. Took me about 10min. The Car had 40.000mls and is black. I could remove the badges without any remainders or scratches.

Believe it or not: Watching people when a “E 280” (3.0 V6 / 231 PS) just blasts away at 150mph is priceless .

On my E 550 Twin Turbo I placed “E 250 CGI” (1.8 I4 / 204 PS)…

Once you have your car debaged, remember to put the largest wing you can find on the trunk, and, AMG badges. Makes the car handle better and go faster.

If the heat gun and dental floss need extra help then try soften the goo with WD-40.

Would agree, be careful with any type of chemicals (especially if not made for car). Goo gone comes in auto formula, but I don't have experience with it. Maybe an all purpose cleaner (APC) would be sufficient? Be careful not to get harsh chemicals on rest of car. I would suppose that on certain colors it is easier to see the 'damage'. Take your time, no need to rush it.

Agree that it won't take much heat - a hair dryer will work just fine (that's what I used). I would use Goof Off or WD-40 on any adhesive residue - both should work and neither will damage the paint.

Oops - meant Goo Gone, wrote Goof Off. Goof Off is serious stuff and could (probably would) damage the paint. Goo Gone is benign and won't hurt the paint.

De-badge on the W212 is the way to go. Really cleans up the rear and makes it stand out. I'd park my E next to others that looked exactly like it and with some very light smoke play on the tails and a de-badge (and of course spoiler....) it looked like a totally different car.
