E350 MY 2010 vs. 2014
Forgive the iPix, but I found my 2010 parked right next to a 2014 the other day at the range.
At the dealer when I first saw/drove the 2014, it seemed just so different to my 2010. But now that I see this one next to mine, I'm now seeing an evolution, rather than a revolution.
Also, the pictures (mine or others) just don't seem to do the new 2014 justice ... something about it just looks better in person.

The only reason the photos appear different than in person is because in person the car just looks alien at the moment (naturally). Clearly those photos show the pre-facelift is a much more balanced and well designed car (the 2014 looks like a kit-car interpretation of the 2010 IMO), and give it a year when our eyes are trained to the facelift and the novelty wears off, and I'm sure more and more that the pre-facelift will shine. The facelift is simply a facelift so it shouldn't be evolutionary or revolutionary.... it should simply be the same design freshened up. The fact that M-B allowed the conversation of "revolution/evolution" to even be brought up for a mere facelift shows how off the facelift is, IMO.
The pre-facelift has an epic stature and presence when it's driving toward you.... as if the entire design is meant to climax around that characteristic classic ultra pointy grille. I re-noticed that today when I saw an early model W212 driving toward me.
IMO those pics truly show how lacking the facelift is in comparison, when one understands harmonies and holistics when it comes to design.
As for drive, IMO it drove identically to my 2010/2011's save for the engine difference.

I believe even an untrained eye can easily pick up the correct model as a FL car . Grill is wrong , I scrutinized these in person in 3 different dealership as well . I love rear end on the FL model too , and I want to upgrade my car's rear end same as AMG FL W212
I could trade my car for FL , much easier job to do but there are a few things that I dislike in FL W212's interior this is why I am thinking of tackling such a job , let's see how it will look once it's done

I've been kind of indifferent on the new tails then after seeing them I think in person they look really bland, more so than the pre facelift. In these pics I think the pre's tails actually look a lot better. But I agree with you, the tails are the pre facelift E's weak spot, especially against the epic front. I personally don't know if the facelift tails got even more mundane or if I'm crazy. Probably simply a preference thing.

2014 looks stupid in front. Too futuristic to be a MB. With that front it should come with at least V8 and be made to a real sports car.
If you install a big star Grille on a 2010-2013 model you can really compare how much better the older one looks like. Star on the 2010 - 2013 makes it look a bit sportier than the grille it comes with but it does not jump in your face. More like shows better what car it is.
The new front of the 2014 tells it must go 200 mph.

thanx for the share, I agree, seeing the car in person is much more exciting...
I have seen one and it's nice......I do like the tails because they're very red, those back up lights must really crank out some light eh??
are these all LED like the w222??

again, I love my 2014 E lol
The Active LED headlight is so beautiful and the new tail lights are much much better than the pre-fl.

Agreed! Would you happen to know if the tail lights are interchangable? They seem to have the same proportions and measurements but i am not certain. I would swap out my 2010 taillights for the new 2014, in a second if there is no issue with fitment. Thanks.

The only two things I like in the 2014 are:
1) Gauges, much better design than the 2013
2) Turn signal stalk, in a much more logical location
However those two things were not enough to persuade me to get a 2014. That plus the big discounts on the 2013, we picked up our 2013 E350 wagon almost a month ago and love it! (except for the gauges and stupid turn signal stalk, I always hit cruise control instead).

I'm not sure if the tail lights are interchangeable but they do look very similar in shape.
The issue I'm having with the cruise stalk is that it's hard to see where it's placed now. It's basically hiding behind the steering wheel. It's hard to know how to turn cruise control on/off unless you already know how to use it.
Thenew3, I don't mind driving the '13 wagon.

Yet, I do like the back of your car with the trunk and rear window spoilers. Is the back window tinting done on the inside of the window or outside? The reason I ask is that I saw a car at the dealer with the rear tints being done ON THE OUTSIDE. I didn't even think this was possible since I assume it would scratch easily especially when you are scraping snow off of it.

I agree... the 2014 looks like Darth Vader's car especially in black. The front facia angles remind me of stealth fighter angles.

A family member just took deliver of a 2013 only because it still has the star hood ornament. (There in there early 80s and the star means Mercedes to them).
As for the tinting on the out side, what was happening there was just the pre trimming streching before installing inside.

I don't get how when people say the standup star is for "old people" or a "dying breed", then in the next breath will fawn all over an S-Class. So what does that say about the S then, if the Luxury Grille and standup hood Star is too "uncool" for a much cheaper Sedan? If they ever dared put a Star grille on the S-Class I'm flying to Stuttgart to slap Zetsche in the moustache.

2010 E350 Luxury Sedan, Engine 272 (V6)
IMO, MBUSA needs to market and advertise that there is still the Luxury version of the E Class, complete with tratditional grille and stand up hood ornament. The E is DAG's number one selling car and partially because it appeals to those who want a traditional appearing sports sedan, but not an S.
I think emphasizing the star grille on a mid-size sedan is going to push more people to looking at BMW, Acura, Audi and Infiniti as options. Think the new Lexus street sweeper/vacum grille will keep them away from those cars. The new Acura RLX is much improved over previous and you can usually get really good deals on the "big" Acuras.
Personally, I would like to see DAG offer an E Class with the 2010 Luxury version front end, to include four headlights. Also, put the "chrome" trim strip back where it was in 2010.

I've seen a few sport and luxury on the road now. I hate the Star in the grill of the sport! With the C Class if you dont like the Star in the grill of the sport you do have the ability to switch it out. You dont with the E Class, which I think was a big mistake.
Sport C class with the proper M-B Grill.

I guess these can be the official pics of the car for now.

Tint is placed on the outside of the window at first in order to cut it to size. It does appear that it's being installed there because the installer will "windex or wet" the window, place the tint there, cut it with a razor blade, and line it up. But he then moves it to the inside. Maybe you saw the initial steps?
