Folding Mirrors-eh?

I am across the border in Canada this morning for a meeting and what do i see? A man jumps out of his 2012 or 2013 E350 and as he locks the doors, his side mirrors fold in!!!! I am thinking that is impossible!

Was this option offered in Canada and not the US??? I want this!

there are a few threads discussing this, try search and you will see them.

But not it is not offered in the US versions. some have completd partial retrofits, but getting them configured for auto-fold has been pretty tough.

PFMs are standard on almost every MB in Canada.

I am pretty sure they are available pretty much everywhere except USA. There are at least optional in markets where they are not standard.
I just dont understand why its not even an option for us.

Well considering that they pay a much higher premium for their car.. folding mirrors should be a standard for them. Also, aren't they required by law in Canada to have folding mirrors?

We should be lucky that we are paying at least 10k less for our car!

I've been driving for PFM's in the US since 2009, and I've confirmed that the US-spec 2014's are no exception. Last message I received from MBUSA is that there is "not enough US demand" for PFM's in the E's and thus they are not available, even as an extra cost item.

Look for the other threads on Euro-retrofit PFM issues many of us have experienced.

That is plain stupid! Why then is MBUSA giving me PFM on ML? Makes no sense whatsoever!

Exactly, they also provided them on the 2008 C300s and the only issue I had is they squealed sometimes when opening out or folding in.
