Help With Audio 50
Hi guys.
I just got myself a W212 2012 model.
It has the Audio 50 navigation unit and media interface with 3 cables that connects to the box under the armrest.
1 for apple product
1 for USB
1 for Aux
So when i connect my iphone 4 it says that device not available ( or something similar i can check the exact words). In short it does not connect.
While i tried my friends Iphone 4S and it works.
My questions are:
1. Can i get the 4 to work with this system and how?
2. Can i listen to music via bluetooth, as it has BT telephony which btw works great with my iphone 4.
3. Do i have to buy the BT media interace box thingy?
4. If the 4 does not work, how about 4th gen Ipod touch or even 2nd Gen?
Thing is i need it to work with spotify.
Help would be much appreciated, as i searched the forum already and most information is on the Command unit and not the Audio 50.

smal...I have the same setup in a 2010, I also have an iPhone 4. My interface cable is in the glove box. That being said, have you paired your phone with the Bluetooth in the car?
After pairing, I've had no problems at all. Connecting the interface cable not only charges the phone but, it will also bring up any music you may have on your phone.
I hope your problem is just pairing, beyond that, I am not sure.

Delete the phone from the car (un-pair)
Delete any unused phones from the car
Delete the car from the phone
Delete any old cars from the phone
Reboot the phone
Pair the phone to the car again

I also only have the 4. What CEB is saying is absolutely correct. If that does not work, check the cable connection to be sure it is firmly plugged in. I have yet to read or hear about a cable being defective.

Since your friend's 4S works we can exclude a defective cable or car. Since Firestopper's 4 works, we know that the car works with both the 4 and the 4S.
If the steps listed in my post don't fix it, then you may want to ask Firestopper which soft and firmware revisions he has on both the car and the phone.

Ok so im back from the car.
I de authorized all phones from the car, made my iphone 4 forget both this and a volvo i had on and i rebooted the phone.
Still no luck, it says no device connected, and then goes on to say device unavailable.
I have some pictures for you to view of the messages, and i also went into the engineering mode and took pictures of the firmware version, maybe you can find out something from that.
Other than that i also went into the BT section of the engineering mode, and did a reset on the BT unit, and rebooted the phone several times with no luck.
My phone is on firmware 6.1.3 (10B329)
Which is up to date.

So i just realized that its my phone that is effed up..
I tried another 4 and it works.
Anyway, the issue with spotify remains.
I can control the ipod songs via the cars interface, while the Spotify songs come up with all the name and info of the song, but when i switch song via the car it says entry 1,2,3... and so on.. and it does not change song.
I have to do it manually on the phone.
Is there anyway around this ?'
