Anyone tint their Pano Roof?

Getting my car tinted this Friday. It's black exterior with natural beige interior and pano roof. I live in MA where 35% on any movable window is the legal limit.

I like darker tint, always had approx 20% on my vehicles but I feel that I don't want to deal with the hassle any longer of cops, state inspections, etc.

So I'm thinking the following:

- 35% on front/rear driver/passenger windows
- 20% on back window.
- 20% or 13% or 5% on the pano roof

With the lighter interior and the fact that the pano shades dont block all of the sun or heat I'm thinking that tinting the pano roofs would make it darker inside and give the appearance that the side 35% is darker with the roof and rear being tinted more heavily to reduce light into the cabin.

Anyone done this? I've done a search but not found anything directly related to tinting the pano roof in the forum.

Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.

And yes I do realize it's already factory tinted. Looking to go darker and mitigate light/heat transfer.

I've read 'myths' about sunroofs exploding from being too hot with tint on them but nothing that has been confirmed or substantial.

Once again, appreciate the input from you guys!

I'd go for a very light ceramic tint that will reduce UV but will still allow for maximum light transmission - the whole reason for getting the pano roof.

I too have the pano roof .

My installer (Ziebart) said they would do it for about $40/ea and that they haven't had any issues in the past with cracking, etc.

Welcome any other feedback from anyone that has gone this route...thanks.

What? Ziebart is still around? I'm not sure that I'd let them tint the windows in my garden shed.

The one in Shrewsbury, MA is pretty good. I've had them do 4 cars and never had a problem....

Please post pics once completed - would be interested to see how it turns out.
Out of interest, have you (or anyone else) got any experience / feedback on Ziebart's detailing services?

Thanks,
Richard

E-Class, Range Rover, Lamb
I never tinted mine on any of the cars no need.

Just considering what % tint I want to go with, the lighter interior (I went with gray) will obviously brighten it up vs the black

I'm dropping the car off tomorrow morning and am going to go with 35% all the way around and either 5 or 13% on the pano roof. I'll post pictures after.

Don't know if blocking UV will do much to reduce the radiant energy being transmitted through the glass....

Ceramic is good at UV and heat rejection. It does far better than any conventional tint regardless of %

Just got the car back, and I'm happy with how it came out. Granted it's raining here today so the pictures aren't the best but definitely a noticeable difference with the pano roof tinted in terms of how it darkened up the sides. Still a good amount of light in the vehicle but it's noticeably darker now.

35% all the way around with 13% on the roof.

I had Suntek tint on my Audi Q5 pano roof in Arizona with no problems. But was told on A3 not to tint so I put a piece of white foam board between headliner and glass. That’s the ghetto option. Never opened it and was glad GLC had the no sun roof option. They call that option porcelain headliner.
