Where, oh where did the OP go? First, he posted here every few minutes defending his virginity (oops, his inherited wealth) and then he disappears - almost like a troll.

Well guys, It looks like I have come to a resolution here. Not 100% signed yet so I will not get into details. God forbid I say something and it ends of not happening the conspiracy theorists will be out In full force. I know I will get a lot of crap for this a la k-a but I'm about 95% of the way to signing the ink on a 2013 BMW 650xi convertible. Unfortunately a buy-out didn't make sense given Mercedes pumped up residuals. Not quite sure how a year+ later the buy out for a 63k car is 58k. Came to an agreement that the dealer would eat bulk of remaining payments, I would be responsible for a number I am more than comfortable with. Just waiting to hear exactly how it will work with handing the E back to Mercedes financial, need to ensure that I will not incure any penalties. Haven't received my car back yet from the repair, and I expect it to be a couple more days at least so everything won't be finalized for a couple of days.
I will not tolerate any further negative comments, or personal attacks. At the end of the day a car is just an car and we are all given the right to do what we see fit with them. There are many great guys on here willing to help and contribute but I have also been amazed by just how ignorant and classless some members have been. Too bad for them owning a moderately priced luxury car will never change that.

Hahah I believe there is a saying about what happens when one ASSumes. Seriously though I still can't comprehend what all this whole mess was about. Out of all the things for someone to lie about, the means in which they acquired their mid-range Mercedes really isn't one of them. Very entertaining never the less

Hahahaha jeez, this is entertaining. Gotta say I've never quite met a group of folks like this before. Unfortunately, this inherited wealth you speak hasn't made its way to me yet so I'm a little pre occupied with a nearly 80 hour work week.

Man you won't regret the 650, I'll tell you that much! The excitement will have you slamming that shifter as hard as you can and it'll just beg for more.

Ahh I knew it (re: residual and buyout). Been there done that lol. If you keep track of your buyout every month you'll notice that you literally only pay the interest for a large portion of the lease as the payoff barely lowers even after your payments every month. So if somebody did want to buy out the lease, doing so as soon as possible would be smartest (which of course negates the concept of leasing, i.e preserving immediate capital by drawing out the process).

I agree, you made a good choice. No 24 year old should be driving a four door car made for middle age people.
The 650IX convertible is a great looking car with tons of power and a great suspension. It's a great GT that you should enjoy. Hope it works out for you.

This was validated today when it became obvious that the dealer wouldn't give him what he wanted, so he decided to pay off much of his lease and go to BMW. He certainly did research on the BMW making it obvious that he was just waiting for a (induced?) failure as an excuse to rid himself of the Benz.
We can hope that the OP has a pleasant experience with the 650 and that he has one of the few decent dealers in the US.
I'm done with this thread.

Both the OP and I know that I'm right. I assumed nothing. The thread went downhill when it became obvious that the OP's only motivation was to get out of the car.

In a pretty damn good spot brother. What's important is having a good head on your shoulders. So many dudes our age don't have their sh*t together. We should be spending this time building our lives and enjoying our family, the car is just a piece of metal at the end of the day.

My favorite line from when I was showing my last E for Lease Transfer (by a guy with a British accent): "Why you driving this car anyway? It's for old guys like me, I thought it was a funny sight when I saw how you looked with the car you're driving".
Then I went ahead and got another Large-Midsize 4 door luxury sedan LOL, though with a different character.
Some rare younger people want that "BAWS" mature MB sedan which is usually in turn a prevalent "older person" get around car. The E at least pre-facelift was the only way to get it if you don't have or wan't to spend the dough on, or don't like or need the gargantuous size of the extra maturity-age S Class.
To you extra youngins, if the E350 is your first foray then you're not living. Get yourself something lively and a little rough around the edges. So when you do get the E Class or something like it you can really appreciate the refinement, calmness and isolation. My first "baby" was a Mustang GT with no mufflers, a 15" sub in the back, racing seats and a slammed suspension. I to this day want to get a rough Muscle Car on the side to experience both worlds. That experience also to this day makes me count my blessings and feel humbled but yet like I've conquered something every time I get into one of my nice Sedans of which I dreamed of one day experiencing as a kid. It's like my teenage self is inherently and infinitely within me grinning every time I get into my car which makes me feel everlastingly grounded yet so appreciative (also makes you unconcerned with the "rat race" aspect of cars).

im in my lates 20s and i have heard that the eclass is an old person car but honestly it kind of fits a need, i take a lot of weekend trips 300+ miles from where i live and a boxster or cayman or anything small really wouldnt make sense with luggage for more than one person. i needed a car with decent trunk space and the eclass for me was a no brainer over an suv or a camry or accord.

To my eye, the BMW 6 series is the best looking in the entire lineup. I hope the deal works out for the OP. What a fantastic car to be able to own at 24. Should it work out, drive it in good health, and, enjoy the BMW forums.

Funny how the world turns..you could not pay me to get into another BMW.
But everyone has different taste, but for the record I do love the M series, 6 and 7 series.

While I do love the 650, by the time you finish putting a couple options in it you are well past M5/E63 price range.
I would never own one unless I had enough money to have one alongside an E63/M5.
Its a nice car but nowhere near being more of a worthy purchase than an E63 or ///M5.

The new SL is a huge upset to me personally. Looks so soulless and emotionless for an SL (and those headlights.... wtf). Kind of looks "cheap" to me and the dealers around here are literally giving them away with those insane MSRP's obviously not commanding their figures (of which SL's would always command in the past upon launch time, at least). At the same time it's one of the most impressively constructed vehicles ever, all aluminum, very advanced chassis.
The 6er actually has an "M Sport Series" package coming for 2014. It includes the M Sport Package along with a bunch of other bundled options that saves you like $10+K (it costs $7-8K itself but includes pretty much everything you'd need on the car, i.e options that on their own or on a 2013 M Sport 6er would have cost about $15++K).
Not sure if that's an option for you, or if the specific 2013 you're looking at is a great deal.
I recently drove a 640i GC, which is the Coupe with 2 additional doors, and really liked it. Very similar yet different to the 5 Series of which it's based on. I kind of preferred the mix of more "Luxury" coming from the 5 but the 6 has closer to those purist BMW driving dynamics, namely in the steering which feels more like the E60 generation, very intuitive and lots of feedback. The biggest issue with the 6 Series is that it doesn't come with the mechanical M Sport suspension which is new for 2013 to the 5-Series M Sport, and is by far the most dynamic and sporty setup on the 5 (totally transforms the drive, yet doesn't sacrifice little to any comfort at the same time). I couldn't imagine how sporty and balanced it would feel on the 6ers sportier inherent setup (maybe too sporty therefore harsh which is why they didn't put it on the 6 who's by nature less comfort-oriented than the 5).
