You are correct. Not only was Cardinal red on the "Build Your Car" color option list but it was the color of the new 2014 E350 Estate on the 2014 model introduction literature.
I was also going to order a new car but now am waiting for the 2015 models.

Last I saw the Card Red was delayed indefinitely for the sports, and available 12/2013 for the lux. Email a dealer, they'll shoot you the latest order guide. Mine was from May and is probably out of date already.

Why would they take it away? I was going to special order. So it is not/will not be available for special order in the 2014 Model?
(Wrote this before I saw the second reply above. It is not available on the online configuration for Lux or Sports). AMAZING if that's true, and you can get RED for a Lux but not for a Sports!

From the order guide from my dealer (I strongly recommend you obtain the latest version as they update it regularly) 996 Cardinal Red extra charge of $360 for sedan and wagon is delayed indefinitely for sport and AMG models and available as of 12/2013 for luxury.
It is an option, but it is delayed. The website doesn't even have the car I ordered back in June.

I hope it will be available for the 2015 Model year.
My wife special ordered a 2014 MARS RED c350 Sedan for a June 20th 3013 build. The car was built on June 14th 2013 and arrived at the Baltimore Port on July 2nd. IT IS Still There! MBUSA will not release it.
When we ordered the car we were told she would have her new car by mid- July. After many calls MBUSA finally said the car would be released in September. We are both very disappointed.

What are they thinking? RED=Sports, and it is indefinitely delayed? And what could they possibly be doing to your car for 2 month at the port? Inquiring minds want to know!
