Luxury grille looks better on "E" Class

It is doubtful that I would have purchased my 2010 "E" if it came only with the Sports grille. I definitely would not purchase a 2014 or later if it came only with the Sports grille.
Will probably never purchase another "E" anyway because of the front end, Luxury or Sports. Both are ugly for what is supposed to be a luxury, sports sedan.
Apparently the large gaping holes on either side of lower bumper actually serve no purpose at all? Appears to me that they are basically solid plastic, sort of what you see on other cars where owner opted not got get fog lights.

I also feel like the primary/middle front air intake on my car has a different shape (i.e., it extends lower, is larger in size, and looks more aggressive).

For example, on my car, the middle section (middle air intake) below the grille is an "upside down" version of the middle section in the two photos above.

There are 2 bumpers available with the sport grille - the Avantgarde (shown above your car) and the AMG (your car). The AMG bumper is more aggressive than the standard bumper with sport grille.

Correct. For the facelift model the grille and bumper has to be replaced together/matched.

Anyone tried to change the sport grill to the luxury grill? Any ideas? After a few months or driving, I do not like the sport grill front. I miss the upright star and classy look.

Can it be done with the distronic and cameras? Why is the distronic a square cover on the luxury and a circle on the sports? Are the parts behind the grills square or round? Does it matter?

What, roughly, would that cost? $1000?

If it was a 2013 or older, the luxury grille looks better. But on the 2014 and up, the sport grille looks so much better its not even close. The luxury grille on a 2014 E looks like a 75 year old man drives it lol. I don't blame you AT ALL for wanting to switch, and if you can find a sport model you like, I would do it for sure. Just looks so much sportier and better IMO. Also looks much better with the new single headlight. My car would look AWFUL with the sport grille. SO BAD http://imgur.com/Dprw1GO

Maybe if you are a member of AARP lol

The luxury grill on a 14 and newer model looks AWFUL. Of course my car is far from stock, but the luxury grill is terrible compared to how amazing it looks on a 13 model

Have you seen the lux grille on a 14 and newer model? Looks like an old man car.

Yeah, and when you're speaking on the 2013 or older, the word "better" should be used lightly, lol. I agree, the two-piece trapezoidal geometrical disaster of a headlight on the pre-facelift was a sight for sore eyes. The upgraded LED Lighting package on the 2014-2016 models is so darn sexy (IMO, it looks even better than the W213 lights).
I already have the 2014+ Sport model, so was just looking to maybe upgrade the existing Sport grille to the AMG grille...

I can try your sport grille on my "old man" looking luxury 14, I'm not giving up the hood ornament though. That is what keeps the grin on my face..!

Also, 17s stock wheels, no spoiler. I don't think having just the front sport grill make it look good.

I'm sorry but I think all of the sports grilles look cheesy and plasticky. Idk if it's the size of the star or what but they look like attempts of making a fugly grille to compete with the disaster that is the Lexus grille Lol.

It's gotten so bad that they've moved on to this illuminated star to give it some spunk. I actually like the idea behind the illuminated star just not the stars execution itself.

So, quick question. Are the Distronic Plus sensors integrated in the grill, as it looks like a black square, in the middle of the Lux grill.
How do you find out for the Sport version?

Cool---well if I decide to get the AMG grille, then you can take my Sport grille, lol

Fair enough; I 100% disagree, but it's your opinion I guess you are saying all the SL's dating back to the 1950's, the SLK's and all of the SUV's look cheesy and plasticky too?

Yes, the sensors are protected by the huge black triangle (and in the case of Sport model, the solid star emblem--if you notice on Sport models w/ Distronic, the star emblem is not hollow)

So, if we change to illuminated logo, do we need to purchase the one with the sensors, or they are independent? Frankly, I haven't looked inside the Sport grille, yet.

Yes I have everything, full distronic and full parktronic. And we cannot get the illuminated star on models that have distronic, because it requires a hollow star.
