wanted the hood star, so I got the Luxury model. and changed the grill (bumper had to come off - grill was pop riveted to it) also added lower led fogs

i just love it, but did you just said, I have to upgrade the bumper to? Or is that just because of the fog DRL?

no upgrade to the bumper, but you have to remove it to seperate the factory grill from it - the bottom of the grill is attached to the bumper by rivets.

So, you don't have distronic plus? Or is there a sport version with distronic plus and illuminated star?

Couldn't you get it with the distronic attached to the back of the grill like they do with the lux grill?

To everyone else on this thread, I think the lux grill looks good but wasn't the look I was going for. It was too formal for me but not bad.

I'm not sure if it would. My though was that the sensor that is in the solid emblem on the sport model would go off to the side of where the illuminated star electronics are.

Sorry for the untimely response. Over the past year this thread has popped-up at least a dozen times during half-hearted search attempts @ W212 grill/grille swaps. I can't hold it in any longer! I gotta break bread on this homeboy and the Etsy as **** looking front end trend.

The big star on the grill is the equivalent of having one on your lower back. Okay I get it, people might be oblivious to your identity crisis but that doesn't mean you should double-down & supersize the ****ing logo in a pathetic attempt to get attention. Isn't there a hotline ya'll can call into?

Then there's the holistic interpretation of "special" stipulating it's a conjecture of personal preference, call it a matter of "taste." Whatever floats your boat 'Murica, but by my postulation your "taste" & your ******* are two peas in a pod!

Btw, just because Daimler's current bandwagon is out the back door doesn't mean their character should or will rest on the shoulders of the present, cough, General Motors. Also, if you can't erase the douchebag you might as well exploit him as a business initiative to grow bottom-line EBITDA. Then again, however ironic both ethically grounded & unethically haneous individuals have been Mercedes-Benz owners, but straight-up by the numbers whether famous or infamous they were, for the first century, typically competent & productive people on the move in one way or another.

What is it about new members dredging up 6 year old threads to make their first post?

An ugly opinion for a 1st post, too.

What am I missing?

Sorry, I didn't realize there's s a preferred protocol for first posts. The precursory introduction thread/thoughts/etc with a few exceptions:

"There are two types of people in this world: Those who like Neil Diamond, and those who don't. My ex-wife loves him!"

They are typically overkill until some gets their feet wet.

Maybe it's my interpretation of online communities, outside of the fact they're a binary social mixer, their largest asset is the useful data & experiences embedded in the chit-chat. Therefore old threads aren't like Grandma but more like Ghost Dad !

While I'm @ it, has anyone confirmed the necessary parts required via technical literature/experience to do the Sport to Luxury swap? Is it just a matter of grills or do you really have to swap the bumper as well?

Amazingly, you already know the art of quoting only what you want to respond to. You forgot to quote the rest of my post, "An ugly opinion for a 1st post, too."

Suggest if you want to throw rocks that you establish yourself, first. Build some credibility before questioning others. All that johnny rot. Without it, people will just say your opinion is worthless, which in this case, it is.

Then, buried within your tirade, you have the temerity to ask a legitimate question, (hoping) that someone will provide an answer.
