Rovinrail: beautiful car and beautiful pictures..... the sport look is the WAY to go. So badass!

Post a pic of your wheels. Also do you have any vibrations at idle?

what a joke. i'm out of this thread. enjoy your "sports cars" d-bags.
Wow... that's a bit ridiculous and uncalled for. I had respect for you, it's gone now. Now I know why the grumpy old men thread exists in here.

There's nothing wrong with wanting the car to have the same appearance and handling as an E350 or E550 with which it shares its chassis and suspension tuning. I felt that the 17" tire has a bit too much sidewall and makes itself felt in turns. Mercedes offers a sport and luxury version of this car for a reason - not everyone wants a a pillowy ride and body roll in turns.

You had absolutely no reason to refer to anyone as a d-bag over anything in this thread.

Easy now fellas. To each their own. FWIW the Builder is now up.

I ran the wheel options by my wife and she likes the base Luxury wheels and so do I. Easier to keep clean!

As I thought, the builder will not allow addition of the "sport" wood/leather steering wheel without switching to Sport Trim, although my order does specify it (part number 289). How hard is it to swap wheels anyway?

Attention assist is still there. It's also adjustable now for sensitivity (something I wish my current C had... the NJ Turnpike sets it off too much).

Glad to see the flat bottom wheel is available on the configurator. I think the configurator still needs some work though - it will let you make an E250 with the flat bottom wheel AND heated steering wheel. It won't let you do that on an E350 though.

I noticed there is another conflicting piece of info with the builder -

Under the Parktronic ($970) option it states "By selecting this option, Premium 1 Package ($3,870) will be selected automatically.", which I verified to be true.

But if I select the Parking Assist Package ($1290), which includes Parktronic, it doesn't automatically add on P1.

So my assumption would be that it's just another bug with the builder and that P1 will be required? What do you guys think?

I'd say you are right.

$300 for surround view is a steal... if you haven't had a chance to try it out yet you should.

I dont get it, flat bottom steering wheel is "free" if you add the sport package on the e250 but $260 for the 350 ????

Secondly, your welcome for having explained to you how to link your photos here (even though your pics are lazy and weak sauce).

Lastly, my "boring" luxury model is actually rated faster than your super exciting "sporty" 4matic. And how anyone could throw stones about boring cars when one drives a 4cyl diesel that climbs to 60mph in 8.2s is mind blowing.

I have a suspicion you are a REMF, as well. Enjoy your super exciting race-inspired slower-than-minivan sports car. I will enjoy my actual luxury car.
Wow! Sorry, I was meaning it all in good fun, since you had posted all of those photos and I still had just the one out there. No offense meant, truly!

And yes, thank you very much for explaining the linking.

For anyone interested, the RWD E250 is now on the USAA car buying service site (no 4matic yet). I'm seeing about a 9% discount including regional and dealer prep fees. Beats Euro Delivery for sure.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts and insights. I test drove the E250 this morning and enjoyed the ride. I didn't appreciate any vibrations and for just 195hp there seemed to be adequate pep. I did hear the expected engine clatter when it started up but it wasn't like my father's '82 300SD which sounded more like a tractor. I had a few questions for the E250 expert panel and appreciate any tips and advice.

1.) Looking to configure a black/black E250 with the usual options like P1 package and will likely wait for something in the local SoCal inventory to save a little extra money as its a common configuration. Seems like 10-15% off MSRP is not unreasonable. Does anyone know if the winter sales event incentives are any better?

2.) Sales rep was trying to sell me on MB-Tex as I have 3 kids. I have read numerous threads on this site regarding this topic but just curious if any of you have your own personal thoughts one way or the other.

3.) Has anyone added a spoiler or illuminated door sills at the dealership? The sales rep told me they charge unreasonable upcharges for dealer installations however I really think he was trying to persuade me to pre-order a vehicle to be built to my specifications.

Thanks guys for your thoughts and time. I appreciate viewing both the lux and sport pics that have been posted thus far.

Not sure where you got the 10-15% as being common. 7% is about normal and anything over 10% is pretty darn great for a car that just dropped off the boat.

Nobody knows for sure about winter incentives but they have been slightly better traditionally.

2.) Sales rep was trying to sell me on MB-Tex as I have 3 kids. I have read numerous threads on this site regarding this topic but just curious if any of you have your own personal thoughts one way or the other.

Oh-boy, you're opening up a hornet's nest here. You'll hear from both sides that the other side are a bunch of flaming idiots.

I'm a leather guy but MB-Tex has advantages. It will look newer longer and is easier to clean (DON'T use a microfiber cloth) but smells a bit like plastic.

3 kids (small I assume) and wanting to save money? Go for the tex. Only about 10% of E 350's are fitted with leather. I suspect that nearly all 250's will be tex.

3.) Has anyone added a spoiler or illuminated door sills at the dealership? The sales rep told me they charge unreasonable upcharges for dealer installations however I really think he was trying to persuade me to pre-order a vehicle to be built to my specifications.

Adding anything at the dealer will cost you double from ordering it but I'm a bit confused. You want to save money but want to splurge for visual gimmicks that are merely cosmetic? Perhaps you might consider spending that extra money on a safety feature like the lighting package or driver assist.

Thanks guys for your thoughts and time. I appreciate viewing both the lux and sport pics that have been posted thus far.
My two cents' worth (currently on sale for a penny) is above in bold.

ventilated seats kick ***... and those only come with p1 and leather. That made the choice for me.

Me too. In addition to the fact that the tucking is different (running lengthwise and closer together) which my Wife perceived to be more comfortable. Reminds me of my Baby Benz (which was by far one of the most comfortable seats I've had).

When I configured the E250 at my dealership with Parking Assist Pack and no P1 a special no cost monitor screen code was required. I think the surround camera requires a slight mod to the software, or something. I believe the code is 528 "COMMAND w/ DVD Changer (Standard)" to allow for non-P1 to accept the surround camera.

We visited our dealer today and checked on the status of our orders. The RWD has been built and is on the boat with an expected delivery date of two to three weeks. Got the VIN and the name of the ship.

We were told there are no built 4matic models yet. We had already pretty much decided to go with our first order (RWD) anyway.

There were no inventory models to test drive, as the one that did come in sold in 1 and a half hours after it arrived!
