2014E350 Front Plate mounting options
Hi all, so just ordered my 2014 E350 Palladium with pretty much every option available ... I'm up here in Toronto Canada, where we MUST have the front plate.. Just wondering if anyone has any options on mounting without drilling the bumper.
I did a search and most results are not for the 2014 or places like Rho-plate who dont do it for cars with front parking sensors. So looking for sugesstions while my car is being built.
Thanks

2014 E550 4Matic with P1/LED/Pano
I test-fit a mount from CravenSpeed last night called the "Platypus"....it was for our F30 BMW. The mounting post needs to be much longer for the tow hook but otherwise it would work ok.
I got a $45 universal kit from Amazon for my other vehicle that mounts from under the bumper. That worked pretty well and I don't see why it wouldn't work on the E (given my other car was a Chrysler 300 SRT8, based on a W211 chassis).

PGT.. any link to the amazon $45 ? I'm interested to check it out.
Would hate to drill the bumper.... Did you need a front plate for your 550 ? what did you do ?

do they really enforce the front plate requirement? it's also a requirement here but no one puts them on. if they do, then just drill it in - its probably not coming off, right?

yeah that's what i mean. just drill it in. IMO, the tow hook mount looks worse than the usual spot.

There are a few options.
You can go with the tow hook with the plate to the side, or there is this:

It is a much cheaper alternative and it is ideal if you want the plate centered. there are no holes drilled. It just attaches to the grill and people have been using it. The only down side is that people say it rusts easily so you might need to paint it to prevent it from rusting.

It's an on and off requirement in Texas. Don't have mine on and it's been good so far. Heard some people get pulled over instantly out in the panhandle. I think it's based on the area and the cops.

I too bought a Palladium Silver E350 with all the goodies (See Sig below) and just received my new CA USA plates.
1. Will not fit on the tow hook without blocking a parking sensor.
2. Will not fit fully within the grill by about an inch, and I would be concerned about reducing the air flow that much.
3. Bolting under the bumper would most likely get broken off on the next parking curb
So ... to avoid the most likely fix-it ticket I'll be mounting the license mount to the bumper.

Thanks for the post.. Unfortunately with the front sensors dont think any Tow hook will work... thanks for posting the Bell one.. I saw that but for the life of me could not figure out how it held on. My concern with that one is the top of the plate (or mount) will vibrate and scratch/rub the bumper ? at least in that ML .. I have to see if I can keep the whole plate within the grill...hmmmm
So what they did was tape thick tape there so it doesnt matter if it hits because it'll only hit the tape. It is also attached to the car via the grill with the bolts into the holes of the grill.
