fan noise after car is off? 2k14 E550
Just took delivery of a 2k14 E550 4matic, nearly full loaded --
just got back from a 40 minute drive back from work -- the car is off and I can hear a fan noise from the engine bay, fairly audible from about 15 feet away -- almost sounds like those tornado sirens from gradeschool but softer -- is this the turbo's cooling down?
I've heard this once or twice before, but lasted only a few minutes.
Thanks in advance,
But it should not be very audible. If it is loud then there might something wrong with the fan.

I currently own a 2012 C300, and it's so loud that when I pull into a restaurant (where people are waiting outside), those people literally stop their conversations with each other and turn and look (as if they are about to dodge a 747 landing in the parking lot). It's borderline embarrassing. The dealership explained (after further diagnostic) that it's a know 'issue' with the C and CLK's. I've been reading into the new E, as my lease is up soon on the C, and I'm considering an upgrade. This of course comes after I have decided that no way I was going to buy my C outright at the end of my lease because of this noise. Now I'm reading that the same issues exists on the E!
Unreal...... How do these cars even leave the factory like that? I've know several owners of all BMW models (which I have sworn against buying for many years) who have no such noise. I hate to say it but I'm considering jumping ship from the Benz world. Very disappointing.

If you pop the hood and feel the amount of air it is pulling through it is impressive - so I'll chalk it up to the pitch of fan blade they have used. It never bothers me much - I'd rather have it be noisy and effective than quiet and ineffective.
When my car is in the garage overnight and I open a door and close it I hear a subtle fan noise for seconds to minutes. Throughout the day it doesn't happen only when it has been sitting for several hours (i.e. in the garage overnight).
Thoughts?
This is a noisy car ... even moreso when it's off!

the fan noise back by the exhaust is prominent after longer trips, when parked.

Same here-- '14 E250. Locking the car shuts it down.
Note my 2014 CLS550 also has the adaptive LED headlamps and it does not ave the annoying LED fan problem ....
