Smile REST Function 2010 E350

I used to have a REST button on my old E550. However, I cannot see this function in my 2010 E350 (purchased used a few months ago) Looked over this forum (and on the web) and did not really find any useful information.

Does this function still exist, but hidden ? It was very useful in the winter to recirculate warm air in the cabin.

Thanks

For US spec W212 cars, the REST function is automatic. It's supposed to start a fan to dry the evaporator about 30 minutes after the car is shut off. The fan is supposed to shut off automatically, but there have been reports of the fan continuing to run and draining the battery in some 2010 cars.

AFAIK only Canadian cars with the three-zone HVAC have a REST button.

Interesting - it was a great feature for the winter. My 2003 C-Class coupe (US spec) had this feature. It would notably heat up the cabin (provided you returned to the car in a reasonable time frame - 15 minutes).

Shame the actual button is now removed. Noticed the wife's 2010 GLK doesn't have it either.

The purpose of the "Rest" function was/is to circulate warm air in the cabin after the motor is shut down. It utilizes normally lost heat to keep the cabin cozy for as long as possible for returning passengers. The evaporator drying feature is to eliminate the stink associated with mold growth associated with AC usage. That's my understanding.

I had an issue with it running and draining my battery on my '10 E550 Coupe.
