Angry Is it possible to hack the alarm? as someone broke into mine

i ask because i noticed somebody got into my e220 2010 model last night.
They took the external satnav and some cash.
However there was no sign of forced entry.

called the cops, they will attend tomorrow morning.

I remember reading that some BMW's had an issue where people were able to buy a small tool online that allowed them to use blank keys. Just wondering if its possible with this car?

although i doubt this was the case, as they would have taken the car otherwise :S

Been happening in our parking garage. Lock it from the inside when parking it for the night. Maybe get a hidden dash cam.

Do not lock with the fob. Someone tried doing it to me in my S class. I went into Beverly Center and forgot walllet. Came back to car fob didn't work, tried opening door had to pull a couple times and it finally opened and immediately on dash it said to remove the keyless go and insert fob to verify code. This system thiefs are using copies the last rolling code I think and they unlock it when you walk away. Which is why it wasn't recognzing my key anymore and needed me to verify the key. Some lady even said on one of the news things she would lock it and when walking away after about 5-10 seconds she would hear them pop unlocked. Looked around and saw 2 guys in a car looking at her. They think locking it from inside will prevent them from copying the code.

Maybe this is a good argument to get the keyless go option. Where you just touch the door handle to lock and unlock. This way thieves can't scan and clone the key code. (keyless go signals only reach a couple of feet instead of over 100 ft with the remote).

No it stil send the code over air when you touch it on the handle. They tried this on My S. Good thing I forgot my wallet and went back. You have to lock it from the lock button inside to avoid the code from being transmitted.

When you manually lock the car using the door buttons, supposedly the alarm doesn't get set and the fuel filler door is left unlocked. Video at MB.

Weird. My alarm sets on my S and C. Never checked the gas. Until the cops get one of these machines none of us will know exactly how to protect ourselves. Oh and PD also said not to leave registration in the car. Apparently they can do some kind of fraud with it and if they steal the registration, report it as stolen by the DMV

First of all you cannot lock the car using the door buttons inside the driver's door and that is probably the reason the fuel door did not lock and the alarm did not set when someone thought he locked his car this way. It also means that the driver's door did not lock.

The driver's door does not lock when it is open. You cannot even push the lock pin down when this doo is open. The way to lock the car without using the key fob or touching the handle on the KEYLESS-GO cars is to first open the passenger door, then push the lock button on the driver's door while the door is open, then close the driver's door and then push down the lock pin thru the open passenger door. Then close the passenger door and all doors are locked without using the key fob or the KEYLESS-GO.

If you sit inside the car and lock the doors then just open the door by the handle and your alarm will come on. My current 2010 model and past 2011 model work like this.

Sorry, did not see this video before now. Figured out myself how to do it.

One thing though. The fuel door does not lock if done as in the video but it does get locked if done how I explained it, i.e. use the lock button inside the driver's door first. This locks all the doors except the driver's door. At this point you want to have your rear passenger door open so you can close the driver's door and then push the lock pin down before closing the rear passenger door.

I think it depends on year then. My C55, SL500, C63 MY 2009, and S550(08) I could lock from inside and alarm would go off if I tried to open it from opened window or use the metal key to unlock. Haven't tried it on any newer models though. I used to lock it that way when I wanted to sneak into the house without the Beep and lights flashing.

Most cars are equipped by keyless go system now, s car negotiates with FOB without your will. I am not sure also that the jack actually steals your code. It can use brute force attack just sending tons code sequences. I think right sequence can be predicted using a very simple algorithm.
So if you want 100% protection, just disconnect battery and use mechanical key.

Sounds like the OP forgot to lock the car. There are likely thousands of complex explanations, but, the simplest one is usually correct. Code capturing is a reality today, but, it is usually done in busy parking lots, especially around the holidays, when there may actually be some reward to the risk. Anything is possible though.
