Anyone with an E250 yet?
Anyone have an E250 yet? I'm going to the dealer to check them out tomorrow. I drive close to 1000 miles a week and 45 mpg sounds good. Also my 98 e300 has 371k on it and is showing signs of a head gasket failure. Its time for a new car. What can I expect to get off of MSRP? I love to haggle.

I have been driving an E 250 station wagon for approximately 10 day. It is (in my opinion) fast enough in every situation.
Mileage is OK (compared to the BMW 520d it is actually worse). What really annoys me: the sound and the overall noise level. The engine is always hearable - well, this is not what I expect of an E-Class!

I bought an E250. Picked it up in Germany in October and it should be in my possession here in the states any day now (it left New Jersey mid-week).
I really enjoyed it on the autobahns. Didn't get it up to almost 150 mph like J.M.G. - I'm not getting it for speed, but more as an all around cruiser.
I was pleased that it was so well behaved at 100 mph (seemed to be the sweet spot). I couldn't tell I was driving "fast" at all. Up beyond that and I could start hearing wind noise and the engine some. Seems perfect for some long distance driving here in the USA where it won't get up much past 80 mph.
I also loved the Distronic-Plus. It worked great in Austria (where they have speed limits) - I especially like how it could slow down as I approached a car, then speed back up as I passed it. Will be great here on the interstates. And also got to get it to drive itself in stop and go traffic on the A5 near Strassbourg (traffic was awful!). It did a great job of handling all the effort (steering/accelerator/brakes). It was wild to be hands and foot free for 20 minutes.
Getting European delivery was well worth it! (though waiting for it to make it back to the USA is painful)

I drove one. Very disappointed in performance. The 08 E350 BT I drove there (dads car) and 98 E300 we have would run rings around it. 45 mpg isn't worth getting passed by everyone. Can you believe they put the urea tank in the spare tire well? I ended up driving home a 11 E350 4matic black on black, the only black on black they had. I'm going to give them a few years to increase power. I needed a car asap for tax purposes.

Agree - I took an extensive freeway test drive in an e250 and it had plenty of pickup and power for me. Thought it drove really well and it is AWD too!

Could be me, I once thought my 400rwhp motorcycle wasn't "that fast". My butt dyno is broken. I guess the thing that got me was, 3 people in the car and the times I put my foot to the floor, no one knew what happened.
But it is the slowest one in many years.

I *am* getting to be an old fart, and this new E250 is my first MB so I'm not comparing to past experience with MBs, but I'm very satisfied with the power it brings to the table.
If I punch it to get up to speed from a stop or changing lanes, it comes through very nicely. It's not throw-m- back-in-the-seat power (obviously not an AMG), but you certainly feel the car get going.
And frankly, when I had it out on the autobahn, it felt very natural to hit the accelerator and slide over in to the fast lane for some fun.
So summary: obviously not the AMG, still a great car that's very fun to drive.

Your E300 at 371k is just getting broken in, LOL! You really outta drive it "into the ground" for this new purchase to be a good financial move.
Good luck with the E250

LOL yeah I kind of like to wear them out. I bought a new 2011 F250 when they came out and it has 77k on it. It can sit for over a week without it being driven. I'm on the road a lot.
