2011 E class bluetec service? anything special for the DIYer
Have a 2011 bluetec. need to do a 40k service on it.. Is there anything out of the normal with this car that i need to know about? any surprises with changing the oil, fuel filter, exhaust bluetec oil, brakes and rotors (not part of service but i need them)..

Just curious about MB trannys...is it best for a full flush or just a drain and re-fill? I know that sometimes the latter is best when the tranny hasn't been serviced in a long time, but what's best when starting out on the right foot with good maintenance?

40k should be the first transmission service so Its not like it hasn't been serviced in a long time.

You should not forget Ad Blue add-on as well .I don't know if your car has thrown up "Remain Start Up" message yet but X204 Bluetec Owners seem to suffer from that message

I always top-off my AdBlue flid. It is not harder than adding windshield washer fluid, and, by keeping the tank full, less crystallization forms inside the tank. I find that city driving consumes the most DEF. Highway driving is very easy on DEF usage. Still, I would top off the tank.

You can actually hear it filling up. I generally stop when I see the fluid is at the bottom of the filler neck. Very simple. As far as spilling? it is just a 30% solution of ammonia. A strong Windex if you will. It is unlikely to damage paint; however, I always wrap the filler area with an old towel just in case some spills out. It does get crusty when it dries, but a warm wet towel wipes it off neatly.
