DIY Artic White Paint Scratch - Help!
Hi All;
I got my Artic White E350 back bumper scratched exposing the black plastic. Feel terrible
especially as I stupidly parked it too close to the garage door. Can someone advice me on how to fix this myself?. Is it possible to DIY this? Thanks so much and picture attached

Ouch!!!! Especially on a white car that will stand out!
I honestly wouldn't try to work on that myself! It would be a better idea to see if you can get something done at the dealership! You would want it done professionally so it looks like new.

2014 E350 Wagon
My co-worker redid his bumper on his W204 after something like this. All it takes is some spray touch-up paint and clearcoat. I, however suck at arts and craft so I'd botch it. Touch up paint is cheap and if you screw it up you can always go to a shop afterwards.

Yes, the car is 2 weeks old. I get up each day and just love watching the perfection. I will go to the dealer but your are right, I am seeing many blogs where people touch it up, sand it with 400 and then 1000 count W/D paper and then apply clearcoat.

i personally spend a decent amount of time detailing my car, and using the 400 and 1000 grit sandpaper and clearcoat can be a little tricky, my best advice it just trying doing like an inch of the scratch first, dont go for the whole thing in one shot, or else you could end up with a huge spot on your bumper that has a different shine than the rest of the car.

pay the $350 and have it repainted professionally, some mobile repair people can do a 99% job without repainting the whole bumper that only a trained professional can catch so that is also an option. Trust me any DIY will make it look worse. Been there, done that.

Just take it in. Bumper coatings are not really easy to work with. Save yourself the frustration.

That is sobering. I have never tried it before. Will have to also check the option of mobile repair guys. Any ideas where to look? Thanks a lot

Call your dealer - they might have a contact? It does not hurt to try. If you ask me, you are probably going to have to get some paint work done.
