Cool P sign and Sluggish acceleration

Hello

So, I get a P sign in a box on my instrument cluster until I hit 30mph, the car feels sluggish when accelerating until that point.

After I hit 30mph the P sign in a box disappears and the car drives smoother and accelerates smoother.

Is this just the way a e350 drives or have i got something wrong or pressed a button.

Thanks

The P-sign in the box in my car illuminates when I drive about 20 mph or slower as the car thinks I'm looking for a parking spot. Faster speeds it does not think this way and I can't see the P-sign.

The P-sign showing or not should not have anything to do with the way the car rides / performs.

Ignore the P until you learn how to let the car park itself (or just ignore it completely). If you want faster acceleration, put the car into sports mode (change E to S). You haven't done anything wrong....

The P comes on when parktronic activates at low speed and the display starts lighting up. The P goes off as you speed up and they parktronic becomes inactive. Nothing to be concerned with.

Now if the P starts to flash.....it's found a parking space....and you get to see if the car parks itself, or if you create mucho work for the local body shop

E can be sluggish until you train your transmission to your style. I had difficulties even to park my car in a garage after delivery, because after harsh test drives it was jumping at every slight acceleration pedal touch. So it took me about 3 days to bring car in sluggish mode when you push your acceleration and car slowly starts moving.

The blue P sign has nothing to do with sluggishness. It somply indicates that Parktronic is actively looking for a parking spot. And it will not flash only have an arrow to its side indicating an open spot.

I don't have this on my car, but my parents 2013 E300L has the blue sign in the dash. They have parktronic. Do they have the automatic steering? How do they activate it?

2013 E300L? It will depend on the build date as in other parts of the world the facelift debuted as a 2013 vehicle while in the US it was called a MY2014 car. So if theirs is a facelift 2013 then it will have automatic steering and braking with Parktronic. If it's the pre-facelift then no, it will have parking guidance but not active steering or braking.

The manual should describe how to use the feature.

Thanks,

They got their car in China so they have the longer version of the pre-facelift w212. (The rear seats has a ridiculous amount of leg room... like seriously a LOT more)

How would I go about to activate this feature? Their manual is in Chinese, which I am not the best in reading that language.

If it's pre face-lift then there is no automatic steering or braking and the park assist only works for parallel parking. The system is automatically on and will mark a parking spot available with a small arrow to the side of the P as you drive past it. When you engage the reverse gear it will ask you if you want parking assistance. If you say yes it will instruct you to turn the steering wheel to a certain amount and apply throttle and when to stop. The system is far less useful than the new one with automated steering and brake.

You can download a 2013 manual from the mb USA website and read up on this feature in English.
