Staggered wheels ?

If you have the same tires all round, then you do not have the staggered option. It costs $2002 and includes 5 Double Spoke alloys with 265/30 x 18" on the rear and 245/40 x 18" on the front.

According to MBUSA configurator, it is possible to add the 18" 5 Double Spoke staggered alloys/tires for an extra $2002 to an E350 4Matic, but perhaps this is just another error like the over-stated curb weight ?

Yeah and it's also possible to add the $650 Keyless-GO when that option was phased out for the new one with the hands-free trunk access. They also don't allow the 115V outlet to be added to the Wagon neither the factory installed rear entertainment, both options I have on my car.

I would not trust the web configurator one bit for anything.

Where does it say in the MB build pages that it is possible to add this wheel as staggered setup to a 4Matic car? I don't see any place on the whole site where you actually can make selection for staggered or non-staggered wheel option. It comes with the overall car appearance package, i.e. if you order sports, you get staggered and with luxury you don't get it.

The exception is that with 4Matic sports appearance package you don't get it as MB does not supply staggered setup with 4Matic.

On the wheel selection if you click the picture for the wheel it writes in the lower left corner the tire size for the rim as 245/40 R18. Under it reads "Option for rear axle" where it says 265/35 R18.

This "Option" is not used on 4Matic cars.

And unlike on sedans the sport appearance package doesn't even get you 18" wheels. They must think all wagon drivers are softies.

The 4matic will not work appropriately with staggered wheels.

Staggered wheels can be done with 4matic cars if they are done correctly.
MB already has a few AMG 4matic cars that come factory with staggered set up.

If that's the case, I stand corrected.
I wonder what the reason is to have two different set-ups if all the cars could be delivered with the same size staggered wheels.

Maybe the 4matic has to be "tuned or programmed" differently for a staggered application.

probably cost.. bigger wheels and tires cost more. Also not everyone wants staggered.. as you tend to go through tires faster since you cannot rotate them.

Yup E63 will have bigger clearance for the bigger brakes so should have no issues on E350/550. I wanted to get some but MB pricing is expensive for cast wheels. And when i checked an MB forged set was quoted $8000! Best to get of a member selling than brand new.
