Did The Navigation Upgrade On My Car
I ordered the disc from Navteq and did the install yesterday. I connected a battery charger so I didn't have to run the car the entire time, and I'm glad I did!
The install took 3 hours in total! As you can see from the pictures I started around 10:48am, and the second disc didn't finish until 1:40pm. The radio can also play during the update, so I got to listen to three episodes of Hardwell's podcast, and used the time to clean all the little things on the car.
I didn't get a picture of the initial screen showing the version I had, and what was installing, but I was on version 10, and this installed 14, so I think my 2011 still had the original installed maps. I already noticed a few updates here in Las Vegas including new hotels and some bridges that were built in the last year.
Some pictures:

I think battery charger is just a safety precaution. I believe the batteries in our cars can power the electronics for more than the 3 hours it took to do the upgrade. I've regularly left my radio blasting for 5 to 6 hours while washing/waxing the cars. the HK amp eats up a fair amount of juice and even after 6 hours the battery has no trouble starting the car.
But better safe then sorry.

Thanks -- but it looks that they do not have an update for the 2012 E350.
Maybe we should go into a sharing process, unless it is clearly stated that it cannot.

Mbworld shortens the links so copy/paste from other threads doesn't always work! I fixed the link, but here it is anyways:

I don't think Mbworld allows that, and since I work for a software company I know what the effects of software piracy are, so I'm choosing to keep the disc that I bought to myself.

You'd have to ask them about the correct use for three cars.

I do not see a problem with using the same update disk on multiple cars you own yourself. I personally have a problem with people who copy or use someone else's disk to update the NAVI maps. I think it is very low...
I also am kind of guilty of "copying" music in my car but at least I have the CD of EVERY SONG that is presented in my car.
I have some relatives in music business and I know how much it hurts them when people just copy their "life" for free. Perhaps that is why I feel so strong about it...
