Benz E-350 2011 Automatic Slow Down
Hi Guys,
I just bought CPO Benz E-350 (2011) with P2 package and noticed sometime when driving and just move my foot off from the gas pedal, my car slow down very fast (kind of slow brakes applied), and sometime didn't happens at all (occurs randomly). I am not sure if it's normal safety feature or something wrong with the car. Any suggestion to make sure it's not the fault or problem with the car will really be appreciated, otherwise car is running very smooth and comfortable.
Thanks,

Mine does the same thing, let's say it doesn't coast well.
It's actually a great feature, you can just let off the gas and it slows you down.
Funny, I noticed it when the car was new, and have forgotten about it until you mentioned it.
My daughter drove my car for the first time a year or so ago and mentioned it too.

I think it's normal, the transmission shifts down so when you step on the gas again, you're in the optimal gear for acceleration. The good thing about this is I don't have to step on my brakes as often during slow traffic.

You guys sure you haven't depressed the emergency brake on accident? I do it all the time. I've gotten into the habit of just pulling the ebrake release everytime i sit down.

2010 E350 Luxury Sedan, Engine 272 (V6)
My 2010 has always done this and assumed it was that the engine had a lot of weight to pull, so no gas-no speed.
Is it really something designed into the drivetrain?

Not sure if the transmission tuning has change for 2013 but my E350BT doesn't do that and coasts with no slow down and if my speed is say 80 KM/Hr it doesn't slow down when I lift my foot off the paddle and I have to apply the brakes to stop at the lights.
I also noticed that if I set the display to fuel consumption it drops to "Zero".
I would imagine if engine brakes is applied or the gear downshift to a lower gear the fuel consumption will stay up?
I'll take note again today.

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
you can reset your transmission adaptations and this may improve.
My G37x had terrible engine braking when coasting to to a stop .. once I got used to it after 2 years it was a non issue
My 2k14 e550 did not do this until the transmission was serviced with clutchpacks replaced and then it started doing it -- then mb bought that car back and replaced with a new e550.. and this one doesn't do it

This happened to me on the freeway when I first bought the car and it turned out I had accidentally activated cruise control at a slower speed. I didn't figure it out until it happened a second time.
