2011 E350 Bluetec Tranny jerk

I am now on my 4th trip to the dealer for the same issue. 1-2 gear shift jerky for the first 20mins of driving. Miles started at 25,500 Dealer did the following: software update to tranny and also torque converter lock-up solenoid adaptations. Replaced Electronic Controller unit of tranny (valve body). current miles 26,956.
Anyone have a solution?

Mine comes and goes. Between 4-5 gears though. It just fixes itself. I'm ready to burn this car. Going back to Japanese.

How can people deal with this **** all the time. My benz has 25k miles and its constantly something. My lexus gx470 has 107k. All it had was the rear height sensors. I can't imagine what the benz would have racked up by then.

My 2011 E350 Bluetec has been perfect for 58,000 miles.

Not one single issue, not a clunk, not a nothing.

I had a 2006 E350 119k mi with 7G, no issues

2010 E350w4 81k mi with 7G, no issues

and now a 2011 E350BT, 40k mi still no issues

I don't think they all have issues. Seems like the 2014 have more tranny issues than the past models from my small sample size.

2011 Bluetec here...

I've noticed the same. Either it's 1-2 or 2-3...sometime smooth. Sometimes not. I think i'll take it in. I just hate doing that though...I have the expectation that they won't be able to replicate the issue.

Is this something that flashes up on the vehicle code reading?

I believe there is a software update for the rough 1-2 shift. Part of the problem is that to keep emissions low, the software keeps the revs up and doesn't allow for a lot of upshifting when the vehicle is started from cold. This is to bring the engine and exhaust systems up to temp quickly. Combine that with locking torque converters, and, you have a recipe for less than 100% smoothness. I have experienced this phenomena in many different vehicles. It seems the more torque the engine produces, the more obvious it seems.

We had a 2012 E350 Bluetec which the lease recently ended and it had this same exact problem. It was very odd because sometimes it would do it, other times no and then there were varying degrees of how bad...something it would be pretty violent jerk and clunk. We took it into Mercedes several times and either they weren't able to reproduce it or they said it was normal. There is now ay that is normal.

When we turned in the car, we bought an identical 2012 Bluetec and so far it's been flawless, no hint or any transmission jerkiness.

Sounds like it is time to cut your losses and just walk away.

As usual with cars it is a hit or miss.

Service just called a week later and all they did was reset the shift adaptations again and they now think its fixed. How can resetting them again fix the issue when it did not the first time?

I think it's just them kicking the can down the road. They probably know the transmission needs repaired/replaced but they don't want to do it so this kind of calms things down for a little bit.

So now I am on my 3rd Tranny shift adaptation. The last 2 did nothing. I asked the head service advisor why this one would fix the issue when the other 2 did not? He said this one was a more thorough shift adaptation. Sounds like pure BS. We will see.

Mine is 2012 BlueTec with 14,000 miles only and have same exact issue as yours. I had transmission changed just 1 month ago but new one does same thing, only worse. It is now at dealership again. Could this problem be software issue or hardware? I tend to believe it is software issue!

Sorry to hear.. From what I'm reading, and what I've been told, it's probably normal for your car to do this and or you are too sensitive and simply don't like how it drives

Best of luck

Just purchased a 2012 E350 (not Bluetec)

Forum and Mercedes newbie here. The car has a slight jerking from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd gear. It only seems to happen in the morning for the first 10-15 minutes. From this post it appears that is somewhat common. Has anyone had this issue and actually have the dealer do any service that corrected the issue? Love the car otherwise! Actually, love the car regardless!

Problem is there for sure! Certain % seems to be doing that but that is not acceptable. MBZ, I am sure, has been working on it. Lets wait and see.

If you have gone a fourth time for the same issue, your car will qualify as a lemon. I'd get a refund and get something else.
