When I called MBUSA they said I was the first one that complained about it. People do not want to take the time to complain . Eventually someone will come up with a fix.

That's such a standard "line" from so many companies.....it's a pretty much automatic response to any complaint. I can assure you that you are far from the first to complain about the feature and the inability turn it off.

I've dealt with MBUSA CS a few times. It seems their job is to diffuse and redirect rather than deal with the problem. Someone else with this issue should call and see if the count is now up to two complaints.
If you want to get their attention you have to cost them some money. That would mean taking your car to the dealer under warranty and tell them that the eco stop is not working properly (i.e. it takes too long to restart, hesitates, doesn't work all the time, you've been scared of causing an accident, etc.). Then they waste time trying to fix something they can't fix. If they see many cars coming in with eco start/stop issues they will create a fix which could be disabling it or improving it so that your issues are alleviated.
That was their fix for battery drain issues with the evaporator drying cycle - they would disable it in cars so that they didn't have to pay for replacement batteries.

I found a way to permanently disable the Eco button. It's part of the video in motion cable that someone from Belarus sells on eBay. He can add a feature to the module to remember the last saved Eco setting. If you search through my previous posts you can find a longer description and link to this module-- I recently posted it in a reply on the 222 forum.

I certainly don't trust myself on being about to install that myself.. Not comfortable about taking apart a new dash on my 2014... If I went that route for the module, would definitely have to hire to get it installed.

I went through this with my 2013 bmw 535 ... At first bmw made the default with the Eco mode always on, it was super annoying having to push the off button every time you drove the car.
Finally enough people complained and bmw allowed a reprogramming to allow the car to remember its last mode so in other words if you left the feature off the next time you restarted the car it remembered you left it off and vica versa.
If enough people express their dislike for this feature maybe Mercedes USA will do the same.

Really you guys should consider that cable if you don't like the Eco feature instead of writing messages to MBUSA which may or may not get you anywhere.

Well how did you do it?
It was so ridiculously easy for me to install on the GL and I have no mechanic background. If you had someone do it it would take less than an hour.

SO care to give us some detailed information then?

Best 2 options:
Belarus on ebay sells a software solution to reprogram function to remember your last setting
Mid City engineering sells a CANBUS module that includes a physical switch to turn Eco on and off manually
Personally, I think Belarus offers the better solution

Find someone with Xentry, and change the setting to "last used". That is, it will remember your last setting: ON, or OFF. No need to disable it though feel free to do it, it is your car.

I bought from Vladimir (Belarus) in 2014 when I first bought my E250. Followed up for an additional feature in 2016. We communicated through email and phone and he was knowledgeable, friendly, didn't bash his competition, didn't require a subscription, and used proper syntax when writing. My car hasn't been in ECO mode (unless I wanted it to be) since. Highly recommended. And by the way, to the rest of the world, the United States is probably seen as the country in the "new" every day.

Eco mode (start&stop) can be set to Remember Last Mode or OFF
There is no competition, just Official Sponsors and people not allowed to advertise
I don't require a subsrciption, there is rental also
Free diagnostics + eventual fix and documentation included
and
the opportunity to get many other things coded and changed in the same time
and all this for much cheaper

BenzNinja can completely reprogram any feature or function on your car 7 days a week 12hrs a day... Explain to me how you think this is a bad choice again????

I ordered my 2014 E250 from the factory and spent $210 for the VIM, and got the following features:
ACC (Automatic remote open and close)
VIM (Video in motion, which provides all features normally prohibited if vehicle isn't stationary
ECO mode default
Sport/Economy mode default
It wasn't a single solitary feature; it was EXACTLY what I wanted at a price I was willing to pay, and It has worked perfectly for the last 8 years and 70,000 miles. I haven't given it a second thought till now, but when I see someone bashing a competitor using inuendo and inaccuracies, I figure others on this knowledge sharing forum might want to hear a contrarian POV.
Your product may be outstanding and at a great price, but your immature marketing and communications techniques are keeping at least one potential customer away. Being a paying sponsor doesn't give you carte blanche to show your ****, champ, and if the forum sponsors disagree, I'll happily go away.

You spent money 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 years ago and only managed to change a single solitary feature on your car LOL!!

K-Mart? Sure, I'd shop there if they offered the best value. I suspect you wouldn't because you have an image to protect, one that you desperately hope will grant you access to Elitistville. Anyway, been fun, I cede the field. Have a great day!

The cheap undersized Chinese made tyres, no name brake pads, different coloured doors and Sears home brand engine oil lube sticker would also be a dead give away too!

You will forgive me for expressing my opinion but £150 to turn off stop / start on a 10 year old car is hardly a bargain. I might of considered at a third of that price, but no way at the full price - just way too expensive.

Hmmm I bought a Benz because I like the way it drives and the features it has. I know what the obd interface costs to make and it aint no where near the money being charged for it, that is just opportunism and exploitation, furthered by those who think as you do, A Merc is not (and should not) be expensive to maintain and run, those of us who buy older models may well have a reason for doing so, perhaps you feel snob value in owning a Benz, I and many others do not, we simply like the cars. You are incorrect in your assumption I am just another "tight ****" that buys a Benz. I have my reasons for running an older car, it does not mean I couldn't buy a new one, it just means that I choose not to, and for all you know this could be my second or third car. Perhaps I should make my own assumption about you and your ignorant and arrogant attitude to myself and others.
