I picked up a new E250 today and tried out HK 5.1. Boy, what a big difference compared to 2012 HK system. Sound is more crisp and clearer. I can say it has a big difference in sound quality.

Have you tried raising up bass? I have tried 2014 BMW sound system but not as good as MBZ.

I just traded my 2012 E350 for a 2014 E350 and also heard improvements in the sound system. There were obvious midrange problems, to which the service tech said "it meets spec". Those are gone, its still not as good as it should be in a car of this stature, but its better.
It has been previously noted on this board that the subwoofer was made smaller in more recent E-classes, so what jdhoang is hearing is correct.

What I had was '12 Logic7 unit. I was just comparing '12 to '14, and I found everything pretty good on '14 sound system. Perhaps, you could take it in to dealer for what your problems is. And while you are there, I recommend you try another unit. Based on my unit, it satisfies my ears unlike previous unit..
