Sunshade Questions

I live in North Texas and the sun here is brutal. I want to get a quality sunshade for the windshield. I have a couple of questions in that regard:
1. is the official MB shade from the dealer any good?
2. Any other recommendations for a custom shade?
3. I have an 2014 E250 Bluetec and most listings are for the E350. Am I correct in assuming that they are the same body?
4. Where can a sunshade be stored in the car?

the OEM sunshade is topnotch IMO: I've had two for more than three years now with zero issue's, deals are out there, some folks prefer other brands, guess I like to stick with the OEM products when I can get them....

I'd sanction the use of these sunshades

I'll have to look into the OEM sunshade - sounds cool.

BTW - The Kate pic in your sig always makes it so hard to focus and actually comprehend the text of your posts

OP - I've always had great success with Heatshield brand for both my 2010 and 2014 E350.

The OEM shade is what I bought and it is perfect as it is made for this car.

For storage I just keep it on the rear seat as I seldom have passengers there and if I have rear seat passengers then the shade goes in the trunk.

To answer your other question, yes "E350" shades will fit. Any W212 shade will fit your car from 2010-2015 so far.

I have had great success with shades from Auto Anything. The shades are custom fit for each vehicle and do not have logos on them.

Buy any brand you want then spray sun side with white plastidip. Amazing. Added insulation and definitely not blinding other people with glare. I had to come up with solution for our HOA rule of no sunshade due to bright glare.

I got some questions for PPL who have purchased custom fit sunshades.

Which do you prefer? roll style or bi-fold style or another design (wire frame), which is easier to use and store?

I installed a radar detector up near the rear view mirror, will this cause issues in using a custom fit sunshade?

TIA,

WOW! I've heard of some pretty draconian policies by HOA's, but that one is outrageous!

Let's see how well that policy holds up as our oceans begin to boil!

The shade from the OEM that I have in no way is shiny reflective shade. It looks almost just silver/white when installed. No reflection at all that possibly could bother anybody.

Perhaps those German engineers knew how to do this part as they did the whole car for 99% of it.
