Tires for 2010 4 matic OEM 18 inch wheels
So I have had this car for the last couple of years and the most frustrating thing has been the tires.
I have attached a photo of what keeps on happening( 3rd time in last 18 months). So everytime this happens I replace the left and right side of the tires
Does anyone have recommendations for an alternate all season tire for this vehicle besides the OEM Pirellis?
Please advise,
Thanks

Wow that sucks.....
On my 2011 E350 4matic...
I had the OEM Pirellis & switched to the non-OEM Pirellis.
I had 2 blow outs with the OEM Pirellis.
Also, I had the same rims.

I've been running Cooper RS3-A all season and have been very pleased.
This tire came out on top of Consumer Reports ranking for Hi-Performance All Season tires. Think I paid about $550 for a set of 4.

Not saying your rims are bad but there may be something causing it to bulge out

I have 18" AMG wheels and same issue. Both of my E class cars were bubble prone. I just replaced my tires due to bubbles with Continental Control Contact Sport A/S. This is a new design and I thought I would try them. So far I like them. I love the Airmatic, but I blame the bubbles partially on this systems inability to react to potholes. The Airmatic, 18" wheels, and low profile tires is not pothole friendly.

I use Cont-Pro-Extreme DWS on my 2010 E550 AWD. They did an awesome job last winter here in New England. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....emeContact+DWS

I also want to maintain the OEM look as well.

These Goodyears have carbon fiber in the sidewalls. Might help your situation, assuming you can't move out of pothole country. They actually have a pretty good reputation among the BMW M5 community.

Bubblicious... I like tirerack a lot but lately I like how competitive discount tire has become and it's nice to have their lifetime rotation service

Yep, discount tire has great customer service. Ordering tires from tire rack is a pain. Did it once and no more.

Conti Extreme Contact DWS is probably what I would do - but I am far away from getting new tires. Although I have already had one killed by a screw and another one is patched. Got to love DC roads .

Pep Boys is good also.....
When they have a sale, they are the cheapest in our area.
I just got Cooper Zeon RS3-A for my wife's car......

Pirelli isn't going to replace those things?
I'd go with Michelin's

I went with two sets of tires for stock 18 AMG wheels, Michelin PA4s for winter, and Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2 for summer. No bent wheels or bubbles yet.

We just have crappy roads in Edmonton, probably went too fast over a large bump. but i've never had this issue with any other vehicle .
Only this one, so I suspect its the tires

OEM tires for E350 4M
My E350BT came with 18" Conti ProContact all seasons; these are MO or Mercedes Original approved tires. They perform well with no problems thus far (19,000 km).

245/40/R18 97V XL ... Extra Load is what our cars needed
Michelin PS A/S 3.
It has amazing wet/dry traction. I had hard time spinning out a student's car at the Tire Rack Teen Survival School skidpad.
However if you do see quite a bit snow action then Conti DWS will do a better job.

The problem is the Continental Tires and MB ignoring known defects.
Here's my experience. It appears that sidewall bubbles (that is, failures) with Continental Tires (e.g., ProContact, etc.) are a known problem that both MB and Continental ignores. I had a 2012 CLS with about 5000 miles and no rim damage. A very large bubble developed. The dealership curtly denied the claim (claiming "road hazzard"). I explained that normal wear and tear on a car subjects it to cement cracks, pot holes, etc. And here there was no rim damage. I was so irritated, I left the car at the dealership and terminated the lease, bringing an arbitration claim which is now pending against MB. I welcome anyone with bubbles on their Continental Tires to contact me. sfeldman@feldlaw.com.
To make matters worse, I then bought another CLS550 (2015) and the same thing happened at 300 miles. The dealership denied the warranty claim. I amended the arbitration demand to include this matter as well. I checked out the Continental ProContact tire at a couple of tire stores; the response was that Continental tires have known failures on their side walls. Apparently, its construction relative to other tires makes the tire susceptible to bubbles/failures. Where I come from, we call this a manufacturing defect.
The bottom line is both Continental and MB are putting poor products into the market place. I'm back to Lexus for my next car. In twenty years of dealing with Lexus, I've next had such poor service and the failure of the manufacturer to stand behind the product.
Stay away from Continental Tires (which is the old General Tire, which itself was an "also ran" company). And if you want a good warranty experience, DON'T expect it from MB.
