Not really bent???
Mine is on a spring of some type and can be set in two different positions. Maybe one you saw was just pushed over and could be pushed back into correct position.

What am I missing? The "Star" on my MY 2010 E-350 can be removed and reinstalled in about 10 seconds. I actually use two hood "ornaments" the OEM "Star" and a C-Class flat one ($24 from MB) which goes on and off even easier. I switch it once in a while - no rhyme or reason as to why!
