HELP: SPECIAL ORDER WAGON E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid?

Hi there - new to this forum. Is it possible to special order into the USA the diesel wagon, the E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid? If not the hybrid then would still be happy to have the diesel wagon. If so, any guidance (or links to other forums) on how to order this would be greatly appreciated.

You will probably have to buy 2-3 of them. A couple for crash testing and one that you can enjoy.

The other option is to have one disassembled, shipped as parts and then reassembled in the US. I doubt you could keep your warranty after that.

Not possible, regardless of how many you're willing to buy.

You would have to get that drive train certified by the EPA. Last time I checked it was in the millions of dollars to certify a drive train.

So if you got a few million to spare, I think you can get it done.

Ok - it was a reach. Is it possible to special order the US sedan's Bluetec engine for the wagon?

I'd consider this one a cost prohibitive swap. I'm sure it's doable after all they sell the wagon with the diesel engine in other parts of the world, however any and all savings you'd get from driving a diesel would be far less than the cost of the swap. So unless "money is no concern" I'd say no. And if money is no concern you should just buy an E63S and be done with it...

No.

Each new applications needs to be crash tested and run through the battery of EPA tests.

You cannot special order engines or transmissions. Nor can you special order seats or similar items that have any (even remotely) relationship to any safety item.

You can import cars that are on the "eligible" list (no post 2012 car is) that are then modified to meet the applicable FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) and EPA requirements. This must be done through a registered importer. If the car is on the eligible list then you should figure at a minimum $20k plus the costs of any required conversions.

No current Mercedes models are on the list. You can find out the specifics here

It makes as much sense to buy a Bluetec Sedan and have a body shop convert it to a wagon. No recertification there. The point is, this is a combination you just can't order. Is the diesel so critical that you would want to go through all this?
