The thing is, I don't want wires hanging down from behind my mirror. I'd love to have one mounted with a hidden power supply.

I did the install myself, it wasn't very difficult and on a sedan it's even easier as you don't have to fish the rear camera cable through the D pillar and into the rear door.

And this is exactly why you should not tap in any existing wires. I ran mine under the roof liner down the A-pillar in the glove box where I connect to the power outlet that the 2010 models have. I understand your car does not, or does it?
If not the only "warranty safe" way to do it is to run to the fuse box and use a fuse for it other than using the cigarette lighter outlets.




The OBD-II diagnostic's 12V is a single straight run to a 5A fuse (fuse 73) in the rear SAM module that is not used for anything else in the entire car so I chose to use it for my constant 12V.
For the switched 12V signal I used the switched 12V signal that goes to the light switch, it is going to a 7.5A fuse (fuse 5) in the front SAM module.
On top of the simple fact that all these wires are already fused and the switched 12V is only used for signal which means very little to no current draw the dashcam itself has its own fuses piggibacked off of these fuses. There is absolutely no problem with using any of these.
Given that most dashcams need both constant and switched 12V (if you want it to record parking events not only driving events) this is your only bet other than running your own wires all the way to the battery.

I also looked at this one which has an interesting form factor that attaches to the windshield. It basically becomes an extension of your rearview mirror cover.

Both of these are some of the lower cost solution which does not have the bell and whistles of others. But at less than $70 it's perfectly suitable for its purposes. You need the image to be clear enough to read the license plates, and decent night time performance, of which both unit provides.
Installation is easier than you think. Just use a credit card or a flat screw driver to tuck the wires in the seam on top between windshield and roofliner, and comes down the A-pillar into your cigarette lighter. I also installed a 2nd camera to the rear (for those texting idiots waiting to read-end you) and run the wire into the trunk's cigarette lighter port.
