OEM Staggered CLS63 19" AMG Wheels on a 2011 E550w4 Will it work??
Hey guys,
There's a member here who's selling a set of OEM AMG 19" Staggered wheels off of a CLS63. All he has been able to provide me with is the tire sizes. 255/35/19 in the front, 285/30/19 in the rear. I asked for the offsets but so far haven't gotten a response.
He gave me the tire sizes and said "they will fit your Mercedes". Sure bolt pattern and center bore is right, but will the rest work? Does anyone know the offset of these wheels? Will those tire sizes clear without rubbing? The car is currently at stock height, but I was planning on getting the airmatic lowering links and lowering it a bit depending on the wheel / tire combo I end up with.
Please let me know...
Thanks in advance,
George

Ok so I got the seller to give the the full specs on the wheels. I had to point him in the right direction.
Here's the original wheel specs for my car - (With the AMG 18" Wheel option)
18x8.5 ET 48 - 245/40/18 All around.
Proposed new wheel specs - from CLS63
Front 19x9 ET 37, 255/35/19
Rear 19x10 ET 47 285/30/19
So According to an online wheel calculator here's the differences:
For the front:
Diameter 653.2mm 661.1mm
Circumference 2052.1mm 2076.9mm
Poke 60mm 77.3mm
Inset 156mm 151.3mm
Speedo error 0% -1.19%
Reading at 30mph 30mph 29.64mph
Reading at 60mph 60mph 59.28mph
Ride height gain 0mm 3.95mm
Arch gap loss 0mm 3.95mm
Compared to your existing wheel, this new wheel will have an inner rim which is 4.6mm further away from the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 17.4mm more than before.
For the Rear
Diameter 653.2mm 653.6mm
Circumference 2052.1mm 2053.3mm
Poke 60mm 80mm
Inset 156mm 174mm
Speedo error 0% -0.06%
Reading at 30mph 30mph 29.98mph
Reading at 60mph 60mph 59.96mph
Ride height gain 0mm 0.2mm
Arch gap loss 0mm 0.2mm
Compared to your existing wheel, this new wheel will have an inner rim which is 18.1mm closer to the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 20.1mm more than before.
So I think I might be OK, but I'm a little worried about the inner clearance on the rear.
Please advise,
Thanks,
George

They will fit and look amazing. The stance will be almost flush with fenders. I'd jump on that if the deal is right.
I have a similar setup on mine but the wheels are standard cls550 19". Tire sizes are the same as you described.

Is your car at stock height? I have a 550 so it has airmatic, so I can lower it relatively simply with lowering links if needed.
You have any other pics of your car from different angles?
Take care,
George

No I have lowering links. That picture is on the sport airmatic setting which brings it down about 1/3" more than the comfort setting. At comfort setting it is 1.5" lower than stock height.
Definitely get lowering links if you get the 19" wheels. Really completes the look.

That wagon looks sick. I can understand why it feels like its on sport 2. The ride height is very low.
I went from stock 18" with half worn all season tires to 19" and Bridgestone PP S04 and moderate drop on lowering links. I cannot feel a degradation in ride quality. Smooth as silk on highway and most roads. That size tire on 19" wheel still has a lot of meat, so I'm not suffering from impact harshness at all.
If I run on sport setting, I can feel suspension firm up a bit in addition to lowering slightly. And body roll is greatly reduced in corners. Never felt it lower on sport setting before links were installed. In fact before links I couldn't tell the difference between comfort and sport.
Also, didn't do an alignment after links were installed as it seemed to track straight and drive just as before lowering. Just checked tire wear after 10k miles and everything is wearing evenly. Pleasantly surprised on the wear of the s04's. Still 8/32 in front and 7/32 in rear. Should get another 10k out of them easily. I recommend those tires if you want a comfortable and quiet summer performance tire.
