Didn't realize...
In all seriousness ... He should have gone E53... Would have up'd his displacement in a matter of seconds

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

The car with the original AMG badge on the right side corner of the trunk lid indicates the car has an original AMG engine under the hood. This is the ONLY thing that qualifies the car as an AMG car, the ENGINE. If the car does not have the original AMG engine it does not qualify as an AMG car, no matter what ever else parts with the AMG label you would have on the car.
I have an E550 with lots of power under the hood, with AMG marked wheels and the sports trim but my car is just an E550 sports model and I would NEVER think of degrading the original meaning of the AMG on the right corner of the trunk lid. That combination of letters means the engine and that is it.
If you don't have the engine don't use the AMG badge on the trunk lid, period. Everything else is fine as it all is just cosmetic.
I wish I had a change at some point in my life to own and drive one of these AMG E63 cars (or better ones) but this probably will never happen. I still will NOT break the rule of honesty by gluing the AMG badge on my trunk lid even though my car with 386 hp has more power than some earlier AMG engines had.
It is not only about the engine power alone. It also is about what the engine is and that is what the AMG badge on the trunk lid together with the signature badge under the hood from the person who actually build the engine means.
I just hope people buying these cars would respect the facts behind all this.
