Best phone for 2014 W212?

I am in the process of upgrading my phone and was wondering what phone integrates the best with our cars? I am using a windows phone for work right now and there are some features I wish were available but are not activated. One is to be able to text someone with voice command. I can reply to someone that had just texted me but I cannot send a text from someone in my phone book. The texts I receive can only be read back and cannot be shown on the screen. Can anyone chime in on what functions work on android/apple phones so far?

I have SONY XPERIA Z2 , you can track SMS info in other words, the texts can be seen on the Comand screen .
Bluetooth Audio works but album covers don't be shown up on the screen (Audi somehow manage to have that feature ) .

You can't go wrong with a popular phone.

My iPhone 5S works well with my 2014 E250. Wife's iPhone 6 works well too. No complaints. (OK one, I'm still waiting to see if I get Apple Carplay).

To get started, turn on Bluetooth on your Windows Phone. Go to settings -> Bluetooth -> On

Pair your car to your Windows Phone device via Bluetooth. There's no universal way of doing this, so you may have to check you car manual

Once connected, it appears Windows Phone adds Cortana to the phone book (If not, you can create a Cortana entry with the dummy phone number '555-555-9876')

Now all you have to do is tell your car to "Call Cortana" using the voice command button on the steering wheel. It may be different on your car. On the car I tested, I needed to add Cortana as a speed dial

Go ahead and ask Cortana for anything that you've normally asked her

Just depends upon which phone eco-system you choose to aligh with. I choose Apple for multiple reasons, but I believe that almost any "modern" smartphone can/should provide the features you mention. However, try before you buy as each phone/manufacturer have their own little "quirks" ... when it comes to how they, or IF they play nice in our W212's.

how cool is that - you can call your phone. wonder if android will support that also.

To me, this is more attractive than setting my phone to wake up on voice command (as that chews up battery) and you don't have to switch over to bluetooth audio. good for folks like me who still listen to the radio. when you hang up, you go back to the radio.

Samsung S4,S5, Note3... all highly recommend from our office. Haven't encountered any pairing issues with these in any car that our employees have been in, rental, owned, etc. Seems to support all of the functions on the infotainment systems.

I just finished renting a Hyundai Sonata that was surprisingly proficient with the Bluetooth connection for my windows phone. I have windows 8.1 that has Cortana(Siri apple speak). I could ask Cortana to give me directions or recommendations to any restaurant and the navigation guidance would be send it to the phone. I would have turn by turn navigation that was very convenient. The voice prompt would switch between streaming Pandora and telling me when to turn and what street I was to turn on. All without taking my hands off the wheel. I can't do that in this Mercedes. Something happens between the voice command where it cannot understand what I am asking. Maybe I can take it in and ask if there are any updates to the voice command system.

Hi Guys

I have a 2014 W212, and wonder if it supports the CarPlay feature of iOS 9. Could anyone share his experience?

NO, thank god. Good 'ol COMAND, which is quite competent and multi-platform.

Interestingly, COMAND will let you use a different devices for Bluetooth music and Bluetooth phone and will let you use different devices simultaneously.
