Welcome, it's good for you because wood trim itself cost more than this maintenance bill

This depends on your dealers price structure. When we lived in SoCal with 5 MB dealers within 25 miles the price for the 40k was ~$750. Now that we are in SC with ONE dealer within 100 miles the price was $1300. Local dealer feels that it is our privilege to give him money. You might want to look at the prepaid maint agreement. I needed up buying one for less than the single 40k service.

That seems very high for a dealer IMO. a 40k service on my 2011 woudl run about $900 at the dealer - $360 for service B, $120 for brake flush, and $420 for ATF.
you should look into the prepaid maintenance pack. For about this price or less (don't recall new prices) you could get a 2 pack or 3 pack of services that will cover your 40k and one or two more. prior to the recent price increase, I paid $1,100 for a 3 pack that will cover my 60/70/80 that would have run me over $2200 at the dealer.

My problem is that MB also wants this done at certain years, regardless of mileage. The 40K is also due at 4 years. I had a Toyota that NEVER needed a transmission oil change. In fact, I don't remember the last time I did one on a non-MB vehicle. Rarely did brake flushes either. And followed manufacturers maintenance schedule to the letter.
BTW, even with extra costs, I will never use an independent. Maybe for an oil and filter change and tire rotation when car is over 7 years old. Maybe.

where do you live? is there a certified Indy shop nearby you?
I have been going to an indy shop that only works on Benz for years.......
I recently told the dealer near me I hate them so much I'd rather go to my Indy shop and pay for warranty related items vs coming to them for ANYTHING
good luck!!!

The dealer I quoted serves the Tampa Bay area. No service issues with them so far. Prepaid maintenance was cheaper than what a respected local indy could do the services for. Obviously, if you are unhappy with service than it is no deal at any price.

in any case the cost of 3 services is now 1400 and 2 services at 1050. Still better off than what they are quoting you.

Look carefully at pre-paid maintenance plans. Most 3 year plans do NOT include the big 4 yr/40K maintenance. Also, some require purchase before first maintenance service.

Many owners, are second owners who have bought the same plan and used it for the 40000.

Probably different plans
Of course, I am sure every dealer has their own plans and there may be different plans from MBUSA now.
Just saying that people should know exactly what is covered in any pre-paid maintenance or extended warranty plan.

In 2010 I purchased an MBUSA pre-paid maintenance plan. Requirement then was to purchase through dealer and it was for first three services only at a cost of about $750. Had to be purchased before first "A" service. You could purchase the 4 year/40K plan or any above that, but prices jumped a pretty good bit at that point. Probably due to the very expensive transmission flush.

Dealer offer for package deal.
40,000 mile service B $400, trans fluid change $560, brake fluid change $100, cabin filter $120, engine air filter $130 = $1310.00 The next 50,000 mile is $265
60,000 mile is $620 total for all 3 is $2195. Dealer will sell me all 3 for $1700 Seems like a good deal to me?

if so you can get the same thing from an out of state dealer less sales tax at the prices I quoted above

OP, the good deal is to call Erin at MB santa rosa or Any Finance Advisor at MB austin and get it for 1400 bucks no tax (if you don't live in TX or CA). I would save the 300 dollars because your dealership is doing you no favors at 1700

In some instances, the 3 pack of service is a really good deal.
In very early September, just before the price increase, I paid $1089 for a three pack. This was after my 50,000 mile A service.
That gets me a B-A-B combo, 60K-70K-80K

Trust but verify
Make sure the finance person that sells you the plan confirms this and it is in writing in the plan itself. Mine specifically stated it covered the 10K, 20K and 30K services. Read the fine print.

Yes because you had the 3 pk. If you bought another 3 pk it would cover 40-50-60. The most you can buy on a used is a 3 pk. Best plan is pay for 10k then buy 3 pk for 20-30-40. And repeat for next 40k miles again.
