Kick swipe trunk open feature
Has Anybody gotten this to work consistently? Since I have had the car I have gotten it to work less then five times. What is the trick?

The feature (as you may surmise) allows you to open the trunk when you are in proximity by swiping your foot underneath the bumper (like Ford shows on its Escape commercial). It was available for the 2014 E550 but I think you had to get the keyless go package.

I usually swipe my leg, not the kick

So it came with the keyless go package. So I took everyone's suggestions and on the first try this morning bam. It worked! I guess I was standing too close to the back of the car so close I would touch the bottom of the bumper. Thanks to all.

Exceptions: For safety and theft prevention if the engine is running, kick/swipe does not work, likewise the latch under the lip of the trunk lid will not open the trunk. Only the switch inside the driver's door will open it.

As long as the key is on me, I have no problems most of the time. I like the fact that you can close the trunk using the same kicking motion. Makes sense when you're unloading the trunk and your arms are full. I also like the button (in the trunk lid) that closes the trunk and locks the car doors.

Now that I own the car I have to say that the biggest change in body shape over the years is not the creases down the side but the overall wedge shape. You can really see it in the side view picture of you car. Your car looks good in white.
