How the tables have turned

I was comparing my E pricing with a comparable car in the US. The US E400 4Matic equipped like mine is $74,507.00US. My car was $77,900.00CAN for a difference of $3,393.00US. When you factor in currency, the US car is $84,192.00CAN. The Canadian car also includes 6.2% duty as opposed to 2% in the US.

current Canadian pricing vs US pricing

Yes, indeed !!!

Canadian buyers are currently getting a good deal. I compared the Canadian list price for my E250BT to a similarly equipped US E250BT and the latter was US$9000 higher !!!

But those are imaginary prices. You will not believe the discounts being applied to that price. The reality is that we pay more in Canada for the equivalent car in the US. And lets not talk about lease prices.

Yes, it is true that many US dealers offer huge discounts off the list prices of MBs. But even with such discounts factored in, the final Canadian price for new MBs is less than the US equivalent price.

Are you sure about that Derek? It's a struggle to get a decent discount in Canada. And as someone else mentioned, our lease prices are way higher than the US.

What is considered a huge discount?

Depending on where you are purchasing, 15%-20% discount is not uncommon.

Bought a new 2010 in Nov 2009 for 14% off MSRP. All about timing and how hungry the sales rep and dealership and MB are.
