PLEASE HELP!!! Check engine and almost no power
I've a 2012 E200CGI (with 13K miles), around 4 months ago (just after warranty ended) a very weird issue has appeared. Sometimes when I accelerated (usually not full gas, and sometimes full gas) the check engine light turns on and the car losses power, it's like it has no turbo anymore. I have visited the MB dealer here in South America like 10 times and no solution. They say that the STAR system shows no issue.
I noticed that if I turn off the car and then turn on again, the car still has the check engine light on, but it has full power...and if I wait 1 hour and then turn it off, and turn it on again (without removing the key) the light disappears.
It's very annoying and I don't trust in the car anymore when I need to be sure I've the full power in case of an emergency...
Any idea?
thanks,

Your dealer service should be able to pull the trouble codes from it. Next time the light comes ON drive it to the dealer service and let the car run so the light does not go out and have them test the codes as it is still running. With the light ON for 100% there is a code that made the light go ON. If your dealer service says no code then they lie.
There should be a code in the memory even after the light goes out. Light ON means that the condition that lit the light is present. When the light goes out it means the condition cleared but the system saves the code in the memory so it can be reads later to see that the condition for the light was present at some time.
I had a loaner C-Class from my dealer once with that small turbo engine (C250) and it went to some sort of a limb mode after a quick acceleration. I don't know why but after I turned the car OFF and re-started it was back to normal. It did it again when I was going back to pick up my own car. Again it happened during aggressive acceleration. I was close to my dealer and entered a 35 MPH limit area so I just limbed it to the dealer and told them about the problem. I have not heard about it since. It could very well be a turbo related issue. Wonder if it is the same engine in your E200 and the C250 that I drove as a loaner...?
If your dealer refuse to read the trouble codes get yourself a code scanner. I assume you can buy these in South America too...?

Thank you for your reply.
Yes, or I can buy it in the US. Does any OBD2 scanner should work, or do I need something specific for MB?
Thanks,

I'm not sure about the scanner. I have one that I bought years ago for my other cars and it does not work on my current E550 and it did not work on the Audi Q7 that I had so it seems there are more than one type of OBD II scanners.
Anyone around the forum that knows which one to get??

Can also be a make specific code that googling might not help with. Konigstiger in the forum could probably tell what the code is for though...
