2012 E350 Left Turn Braking Yields Click Noise
This noise does not exist when the steering wheel is straight OR when then steering wheel is turned to the right ... when coming to a complete stop.
Here's a video which captures this issue:
Mercedes dealership kept my car for 4 days trying to identify the issue, but with no luck.
Any ideas?
The noise started happening very recently. I originally heard something with all windows closed... with the windows down (as you can see from the video), it's even louder.
Would the fluid pump make a single loud click noise?
The noise can be heard right after the car comes to a complete stop when the steering wheel is turned to the left. I originally thought it was brakes, maybe suspension --- but the dealership "checked" these areas and can't find anything.

I'm still thinking something with the steering mechanism and power steering system:
Watch his video again, when he comes to a stop with the wheel all the way left, you hear a loud click and then the ticking noise... That's something motorized associated with turning left ...
With all these "sound sensors" I hear some dealership technicians using, I'm surprised they gave you the car back without a diagnosis ... Try slowly driving with the hood open and once the noise starts, put it in park or brake hold and the rue and isolate WHERE in the engine bay it's coming from... Better with someone else driving for safety purposes

In my own car I have a slight noise like on the video. It was found when I had my tires balanced. On both front wheels I can make a sound like this when rocking the wheel sideways. It is very mild and at the MB dealer service they did not think it is a problem and it has not caused any pull in steering or wear on tires but it makes noise as explained above. I have not checked if it does when wheels are turned all the way when stopping though.

Gives me another idea
Op--- come to a stop while in drive and then hold one foot on the brakes while wheel locked to left, then apply accelerator softly while brakes completely applied... If frequency of noise goes up, Arrie is right...

This is not exactly the same as stopping the car front does not move vertically but could be a good way to re-produce the sound to localize the source for it.

When you stop the car completely, the suspensions compensate for the remaining forward acceleration in the car. When the body of the car gets pulled to a stop -- your body (and everything in the car) slightly moves forward a bit and then back a bit. The noise is most evident in that few milliseconds after the car comes to a complete stop, when your body is moving backwards.
The most curious thing is -- this noise only repros when the steering wheel is turned to the left, not straight or to the right.
Can you try reproing this issue with your car? Find an empty parking lot and do a few left turns & brakes with your windows down. Then do a few right turns & brakes. Finally steering wheel straight & brakes.
