The 2017 E-Class is Going to Be Super Luxurious

We’ve been catching glimpses of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class for quite some time now, so you’d probably expect that we're going to see it - and its enhanced luxury - in the flesh soon. However, that cannot be further from the truth.

The W212 has tried (and largely failed) to be a sportier E-Class than previous generations. I love my W212 but would prefer it to be quieter, to ride more smoothly, and have more comfortable seats.
All of these attributes should be what MB aims for in the W213, IMO.
Chasing the BMW and Audi "sports sedan" market is not what MB should be about, at least not in the E-Class. The C-Class and CLA can fill that role.
Luxury sells most Mercedes.

When I got my hands on the W212 E350 4Matic wagon it was more like the W124s than the W210 (which I never liked) or W211.
I don't have any driver aids on ride- only on shift points. For a heavy car it moves well off the line and there is not much I do with my SLK320 that I don't do with the wagon.
I find the ride to be harsher on the 18" wheels they bolted on a the factory but quite good on the 17" winters.

I would think this has a smoother engine (V8) and a more comfortable ride due to the air suspension. I would hope that the 550 was accordingly a better experience.

I had upholsterer modify the seat cushions and now it feedls smooth ,still not as comfortable as Cadilac Fleetwood seats

Looks like via the new S, and C, they've relinquished any chase for sportiness, and are going to go for luxury leader again. Very good news, as it's what always separated them from the rest, imo.

. We really are spoiled on this forum, took a drive this past weekend in a friend's brand new Honda Accord and it just made me appreciate more what an engineering marvel the E class is!
