Ashtray Insert
I would like to replace the ashtray with an insert (2015 E350) for storage of small items. Does MB offer a replacement item such as this? If so the part number would be very helpful. How about a plug cover for the cigarette lighter? Thank y'all!

I carefully removed the chrome colored top of the ashtray, leaving a nice black plastic lower section as a nice storage bin. There are tabs you can pry to remove it. The sales person told me about it.
If you're looking for other storage options, I purchased a round insert that snapped into the cup holder of my X3 from someone on a BMW forum. It also fits my E350 perfectly, like it was made for it. If interested, I also located it here:

There was a thread on this recently. I had purchased the ashtray insert and prefer the removal of the chrome lip on the ashtray and reuse of the black plastic tray which now no longer resembles an ashtray. I also found a black plastic insert for the lighter. I believe all of those items are discussed in this thread or if not do another search for an even earlier thread

This was a 15 minute job, no need to buy any inserts. I removed the chrome trim, cut some pieces of felt material to match bottom and 2 sides, then used some touches of super glue gel to hold it in place. Looks like factory, very pleased.

I simply removed the cigarette chrome around the top of the holder then I glued a leather piece to the inside bottom. I then put chrome around the top of the tray. Cost bout $15 and took about 10 minutes. I can now put what ever I want inside the tray. I left the lighter alone figuring I may want to plug something into it.

Removed chrome insert and lined with felt.
They make sheets of felt that have a sticky back, available at Target and most hobby stores.
I would like to replace the lighter as I do not want to leave it open as it has power going to it.
BTW, you can get exterior striping for cars at auto parts places. I have used it to place on edge of mirrors in home that are beginning to turn. Works good for that and may work as trim on the "ashtray."

I also removed the chrome "ashtray surround" and lined the tray with adhesive felt. I put the felt on the sides, too. So as things slosh around in there, they won't make noise when they hit the side walls.
Nice touch with the chrome piping, by those who did that. I will keep that in mind for my nest trip to an auto supply store.
