e400

so i just noticed that they using a 3 liter biturbo in this car, with decent power and torque. Is it supposed to replace the 350 3.5 NA engine or will they be sold together at different levels.

Its a shame there is no 550 any more in this range. My father was looking at the E, and i guess i may steer him to the 400 as it is new tech and should be a better motor

anyone have it , any opinions

Mine: 2014 E550 4matic; Hers: 2016 CLS 400 4matic
The E400 is the replacement for the E550. I think in the next generation of E-class will not have the 3.5 liter engine. They still offer the CLS550.

2018 E300 Luxury - P3 and more
Dissenting opinion here -- I bought a 2015 E350 due to the fact that it is an older, proven engine with fewer moving parts (no turbos). I didn't want to be the guinea pig. It's the same reason I won't buy the first year of a new car.

Suggest your father shop in Canada where the 2015 E550 is available, along with E400, E300 and E250BT. No more E350 in Canada.

Given the very favourable exchange rate (US$1 = CD$1.16), he could get one amazing deal. You could check out the 2015 E550 @ www.mercedes-benz.ca

The list price with Premium package is CD$80,600 or US$70,000.

id like to get the 550 instead too, but im not sure the rules on buying in canada as a california resident and what that involves

right now he loves his w220 2001 S500, but its falling to bits,
we have a 2010 s550 but he hates the seats, and he is thinking about the new S, but doesnt want to spend that much right now

he drove the e350 2 yrs ago, and wasnt impressed, drove it again recently and likes it

he wants a soft cushy ride, doesnt care for big hp numbers etc..

ill get him in to the cars and see, might try 6 series grand couipe too

If isn't into high HP figures, what about moderate HP and big time torque!?

Enter the "other" E400. The E400 hybrid with 450tq.

I believe the electric is mated to the 350.

i think the hp and tq numbers in the e400 are fine, they are close to his previous cars in the w220 s500 and w140 S500 that we have had.

will see if he really wants an E after having 4 generations of S classes
