Rewiring Homelink garage door opener

I was wondering if anyone had any information or a wiring diagram for the garage door opener buttons so they can be connected to an always on power source. It would be nice to get in my car, open the garage door, and then start the car.

You could go to accessory position to do the same thing

Yeah, that's also annoying, having to press the start button, then the garage door opener button, then the start button again.

I leave my car in the driveway all of the time. The last thing I need is some bad guy busting out my window and opening my garage door to say hello. No thanks

Don't you ever open your garage door but not drive the car in or out? I'm surprised you don't have the standard button mounted on the wall

Yeah, I'm one of those rare people that parks cars in the garage. Luckily I live in a good area too if I would happen to park outside. I'd be lucky if someone used my garage door to break into my house, at least I'd hear it compared to a lock being bumped.

In the summer I do, but during the winter I'd rather not leave the door open longer than I need to.

How long does it take?

How long does it take you to walk to car and get in after you push the button on the wall? Takes me about 30 seconds.

Never timed it, but when it's freezing out, it's more comfortable to open the trunk and throw my bag in it with the garage door shut, then get in the car and open the door.

Why not just start the car first and then push the door button to leave. You can start to back out as it's going up and then push the button again to close it as the door is barely clearing your roof. If you time it right your garage door will never stop moving.

I'd rather my garage not smell of exhaust.

Sounds like you need a ceiling unit heater, more than a re-wired button for those winter months.

I'd imagine it would just be easier to keep the remote nearby and not use the Homelink buttons! The goal is to use less energy, not more.
