Need new Engine - thoughts and advice
1) I need a new engine. E350 2011 Diesel. IT has seized due to oil leak. Not under warranty.
2) I have a local wrecker here that can use an ML diesel block with the rest of my engine components. Apparently there are a few changes (ie. oil pan) but this is essentially the same engine. Is this true?
3) It's hard to fine a whole engine for my model...any suggestions? Or do I truly just need the block?
4) MB here quoted me $31k for a new one. Which is not an option.
Thoughts? Ideas? Prayers ?

PS) I do not need to hear about how it got this way..i just need ideas about how to fix. TY!

The other options that come to mind stem from watching several Sopranos episodes this last weekend.
Last resort you could sell or part out the vehicle
Might consider calling this place and if they don't have it they could probably point you in the right direction

Somewhere a few of these cars get totaled and the remaining good parts are waiting for you to need them.
Green leaf is a good company that has good used inventory
www.car-part.com is a listing site for salvage yards across the country. the web site is terrible (you'll see what i mean) but usually almost everything on there.
Im assuming youve tried jasper? Pretty popular
Good luck man.

Thanks for all the advice. Will keep looking.
Not sure what i'd get for salvage on it...as I sad, considering all options.
I think you should look to get a complete engine vs just a block. I think you would need to probably replace the heads as well. If the heads starved for oil too then they would have their own issues too. You would need block + heads.
Also I think labor would be cheaper as well if the heads are already attached.

I have found two possible engines, both of which need to be shipped to me from Europe.
1) The first a remanufactured long block.
2) The second is a low KM. engine (like less that 2500k)
My main fear is ordering the wrong engine.
My engine model is 642.850.
The remanufactured one matches this, and since the ancillaries will be taken off my existing engine, I think this is fine.
The slightly used one is the same engine number, but from a CLS (which I guess in Europe HAS the diesel option)
I'm hoping someone with some insight and MB know how will be able to help me make an informed decision.
I'm leaning to the LOW KM one as it's cheaper but need to know it will fit without issue.
THanks!

Almost all car models come with diesel engine option in Europe.
How much cheaper is the low mileage one? If not a big difference I would go with the re-manufactured one. It basically is a new engine.
There's only one on their website atm.... Says 'call for price' and has 125.000 kilometers by Auto Wessels (+031 (0) 541 555 141)
If you can figure out dutch that is
Hope you find some sort of an engine from somewhere!Dollar - Euro exchange course is in your advantage atm :P
