Replacing Fog and "Hockey" Bulbs - E550

Any idea how to change the fog (round shaped lights) bulbs on my 2010 E550? And, the hockey led light bulbs? The hockey lights were an aftermarket add-on by the previous owner.

I saw a YouTube video where you have to jack the car up, turn the wheel away, and remove the fender liner to replace the bulbs.

Is that how you do it?

Thanks.

P.S. Ignore those lip scrapes as they have been fixed - lol.

i dont know how to replace the bulbs on the fogs but if that was me, i would remove those hockey stick drls and burn them.

that youtube video you saw makes a lot of sense to replace the bulbs.

Is that sedan or coupe? If that is sedan can you please post some more photos of your front? I see that you have a star grill, where grill is black and the star is chrome, and that is exactly what I am planing to do on my black E. But I was not able to find good photos of that from different angles of view.

The Hockey's should be one complete unit with lamps. I don't believe you can replace individual LED's. I cannot imagine they look good in the center of the bumper like that. Did you buy this car with all of the lights as non-functioning?....

Hmmm, then what to do when the lamp goes out? replace the entire unit? 3 of my LEDs on the unit are out..or "dim"..that's what it looks like anyway..or maybe something is loose? hmm..

I think the lights look good.. lol..yes, one light was the wrong color and now the hockey ones are malfunctioning..fun fun!

for LED to go out will need a lot of operating hours , they last way longer then actual bulbs.. if some of them are dim it might be smth different than leds itself. and lol previous owner liked it bright

I believe the LED are on a ballast. Check that first.
It is weird that the Hockey lights were not in the position of where your round DRL/Fog lights are. That is where they should have been on the 550. I am not a fan of the round lights at all, which were typically only found on the 350 that way.

Yeap, thank you very much! I love the way it looks. If you have any more photos from different angles I would love to see them as well, if not, that's ok too.

Will be buying one like that from eBay. I've been watching this one:

Thanks! It does go well with the overall look of the car. If I get time, I'll take some more pics. But yes, that is the grill!

Ballast? I have to find a way down to access that area.

I have the 2010 with the AMG sport package. Maybe that's why with regards to the lights.

Code 772-AMG Styling Package-Front Spoiler, Side Skirt

This was a common package on the 550, which I have as well. Those round lights cause me to suspect your front bumper was replaced and the owner just re-hung those LED lights inboard. Was this car in a frontal collision, by chance?

No collision that I know of and the car history is accident free. Check out this car and driver article of the 2010 E550..it has the round lights:

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...trumented-test

Also do a google image search of 2010 E550, and you will find cars with round lights..another example..

https://www.google.com/search?q=2010...%3B1500%3B1092

I do know that he "added" the hockey lights afterwards (after-market)

Okay, well you got me there. So, here all along I thought I could tell an E550 from an E350 by the Hockey LED lights. So much for that....

Then what is this solution? Lol..Some how when I look closely at the light it looks like each tiny square has it's own bulb..

if that is not the case..I wonder why half of the hockey light is dim and the other half isn't..it's time for a flashlight and a shake of wires time i think..

The round "fog" lights came with cars that weren't equipped with bi-xenon lights.

The "hockey stick" lights came with cars with bi-xenons. And there is no ballast/resistor, the resistor is built into the LED housing.

can it be that both Round fogs and Leds are wired with the same wire/same line? it might cause the dimming part... if not then im out of ideas.. id say just get the kit to convert from round back to LEDs.. and just put leds where round fogs at.
wish u luck
