New owner of a 2013 E350. Question on backup camera
Just bought a CPO model. With P2 package, sport, active support on driver seat, panoramic room, etc. Very nice vehicle. Main thing missing is active/radar cruise and parktronic.
My question is on the backup camera. When it's activated with reverse gear, the camera does operate fine but I see no guidance lines (green, yellow, red) in the command screen. My 2010 GL450 has them, so I'm surprised that a later 2013 E350 model would not. What gives?
Thanks,
Dimitris

I'm hearing that due to liability concerns MB has removed them!
Can someone confirm? There's some indication from dealer that newer MBs have them removed and MB gives guidance that rear-view camera only acts as a lens, with responsibility for "lines of sight" (guidance) being fully with the driver (?!)
I am also curious about this. As far as I'm concerned I just use the camera to back up fast before I wait for the sensors to beep when i'm getting close... but i'm coming from an 09 Volkswagen Tiguan which had the "predictive lines" and i'm not gonna lie, I was disappointed when this car did not have them.

I have a 2014 E350 and I have lines and since mine is newer than yours it means that it is still out there and the new models have lines. I would get ahold of MBUSA and ask them.

2013 no lines but have sensors in the front and rear bumpers so they beep when you get too close to an object.
The lines are nice to have but one can live without them and get used to it.
The guide lines are now standard on all current vehicles of all makes! Even a cheap Hyundai Accent, Corolla or Civic has them but not our E!

My $20 garmen will let me put in my address but my $60,000 Mercedes will not. You replace quality with crap and you get crap. In 2014 they switched mfg of the head units for navigation. Cheap crap. They probably saved 20 or 30 cents.
